In 1951, Geiko-America merged with Jatco Corporation to form Jatco-Geiko America Corporation. The company's history can be traced back to 1918 when George Morgantown and John A. Goodrich opened a small optics shop on the corner of Market Street in Morganton, West Virginia. The couple quickly realized that they could make a significant impact in the industry by developing new products that would appeal to hunters everywhere. The city has also become known for its annual bluegrass music festival which takes place on July 4th each year in downtown Morganton

Morgantown, West Virginia is a town located in Logan County, West Virginia. The population was 5,047 at the 2010 census. Morgantown is the county seat of Logan County. The once-thriving coal mining and steel town has declined since the early 21st century due to its dependence on energy production and other economic sectors. However, Morgantown remains an important historical center for the Coal Fields region of southern West Virginia and its role in American political life. The town was founded by German immigrants in 1819 as a small farming community named Forstenville near present day Parkersburg. Forstenville grew rapidly due to its location within easy reach of the then new anthracite coal fields that lay along the Ohio River Valley. By 1830, Forstenville had become one of the most important commercial centers in Logan County and boasted a school, Baptist church, post office, jail and two stores. In 1832 Rev John Capps erected a large log cabin as his home in what is now downtown Morgantown. A year later he purchased land southeast of downtown from David Waddell for $2 per acre which he used to build four more homes including one still standing today known as Waddell's Hotel or "Wadsworth House". Morgantown quickly became an important center for coal mining operations with several mines opening up around town during this time including those operated by Ewing & Co., Griggs & Co., Dennison Mines Company and others. By 1840 about 60% of all Coal mined in West Virginia was done here in Morganton alone with output reaching 1 million tons annually according to records kept by the US Geological Survey (USGS). Coalmining continued until between 1870-1895 when it peaked but soon began to decline as automation began replacing traditional methods such as underground mining with surface workings using dynamited plugs instead. This process gradually eliminated many oldcoal mines while also reducing output leading to major layoffs throughout Morganton during this period totaling over 2,000 workers at peak levels according to some estimates however overall employment decreased from 925 people back then to just fifty-six residents today thanks largely to technological advances which have allowed significant windfall profits from extractive industries like coal exportation that replaced these jobs directly or indirectly over recent decades . With declining production came corresponding declines in both population size and taxable value throughout Morganton during this time although some local businesses managed to maintain strong presence through consolidation or merger into larger competitors over time . nevertheless – despite these challenges – Downtown Morgantown became an increasingly popular tourist destination among locals and visitors alike dueits rich history and unique architecture which can still be seen today even though most structures have been renovated or replaced multiple times . Despite its negative trends after World War II (due especially to increased energy costs), Morgantown has slowly recovered since 2000 thanks largely to redevelopment efforts spearheaded by Mayor Jim Allbright who has worked tirelessly courting investment opportunities such as renewable energy generation programs , professional sports teams (the Mountaineers basketball team being particularly successful) , cultural festivals etc .. Overall since 2000 there has been significant growth taking place both inside city limits but also beyond where downtown meets Interstate 70/Interstate 20
