Huntington, West Virginia was one of the first places in America to Laws were passed legalizing handguns. It was a three-day event and featured targets made from logs that had been cut down by local farmers. The company’s production center was located on Second Street in downtown Huntington from 1876 to 1959. It produced rifles, shotguns and pistols. In 1958, the plant closed its doors for good after decades of production. The building still stands as a museum dedicated to firearms history and culture in Huntington.
Huntington is a town in Huntington County, West Virginia. The population was 3,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wheeling–Erie, WV-PA-OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that now Huntington was first settled by Europeans in 1772 as both parts of Botetourt County and also within Mingo County. In 1806 the area became part of Huntington County when it was created from portions of Mingo and Botetourt counties. The first post office in the community was established in 1837. As early as 1814 an act had been passed by the US Congress to give land to each family that could show they were habitually resident in Washington Territory (now Wyoming). On July 1, 1838, this land grants were increased to include all of present-day Huntington Township and most of what is now Moran Township except for a small strip along the Susquehanna River near its mouth which formed part of Lawrence Township originally organized in 1799 from parts of Mingo and Logan Counties. In 1861 much of what is now eastern Moran Township including some sections located on or near where the Susquehanna River flows became part of unincorporated Cambridge Borough until that borough's incorporation into Huntington on November 4, 1907 relieved Huntingdon County from having any responsibility for those sections. That same year various other communities also incorporated within Huntingdon County: Conrailstown (1907), Springdale (1908), Newtown (1909), Belleair (1920), Allentown (1922) and Mechanicsburg (1924). It should be noted that Cambridge Borough never included what are today eastern Moran Township nor did it incorporate any other communities within Huntingdon County; rather it became an independent municipality outside both county jurisdictions effective November 4, 1907. That change leaves us with two sets of local government boundaries which continue to affect residents today: those centered around Huntinton Village - including nearly all east Moran Township - while woodland areas located west and south of Interstate 81 are under jurisdiction of Yorktown Heights Police Department while rural areas east and north thereof are under jurisdiction of Wyandotte Justice Court. In 1941 most all unincorporated portions adjacent to I-81 were annexed by nearby Bedford Rural School District making rural western Warwick township one possible destination for many young people who had hoped to find work closer to home but found themselves unable or unwilling to leave their homes due chiefly to then high housing prices relative only to surrounding suburbs such as Wheeling or Harrisonburg . As late as 2000 much remain unchanged with little nucleation taking place beyond village borders despite increasing suburban development along I-81 .

The first gun targets were made in the early 18th century. Gunpowder had not yet been invented, so any target that needed to be shot with a cannon would have to be made from wood. There was no way to make a target that would fire more than once, so most of these targets consisted of small pellets that only hit once.
Huntington is a town in and the county seat of West Virginia, United States. The population was 13,821 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Allegheny River and is part of the Wheeling–Charleston metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what is now Huntington was Nicholas "Nick" Marbury in 1776. According to one source, Nick Marbury may have been a result of his father's migration from England to America and trade with the local Native Americans. Settlement began by small families who farmed corn and other crops near present-day downtown. By 1820, some twenty families had moved into what would become Huntington Heights. In 1824, General James Fenton captured Fort Donelson from Confederate forces during the Battle of Monongahela and soon after relocated most of Charleston County to form West Virginia as an Indian Territory under US Agent John Stephenson. In 1830, Judge Isaac Nolen became interested in land east of Pittsburgh that lay within current-day Monongalia County; he donated three thousand acres (1 km2) to erect a courthouse square on which Huntington would eventually stand. A year later, Nolen sold 1/3 interest in this property to Joshua Givens for $7000 cash plus ten shares of stock worth $50 each – making him one of the earliest investors in Huntingtonites themselves! Givens named his new town after himself: "Giovanni della Tour". By 1834, all but two hundred residents were living in buildings built around what are now Third Street and Main Avenue (now Elm Street). The early years included some struggles; for example, not all residents could read or write so deeds were awarded by sign language! However, through hard work and determination everyone gradually assimilated over time into American culture; many Chinese immigrants also arrived during this period . In 1856 saw construction begin on what would become known as Givens & Boies Blockhouse (later renamed Givens Depot), which housed warehouses storing goods arriving from Baltimore via Wheeling–Charleston Railway Company trains; at that time it was one of only a few structures remaining standing along Main Avenue today following years of heavy development across town including much newer homes In 1863 President Abraham Lincoln made Huntingdon County a part of Virginia due to its strategic location between Potomac River Valley Railroad lines linking Washington D.C., Richmond Va., and points north; however because WestVa did not join until 1907 it remained territory separate from Virginia until 1861 when it merged into Kentucky upon statehood.. At that point all white people living eastward were forced out while all black citizens eastward were integrated into their respective states without any assistance or resistance… Many African Americans settled here during this time as well among others Booker T Washington who came here before moving south to Memphis Tennessee
Huntington was founded in 1765 by James Logan. The town quickly grew, and in 1801 it became the county seat of Huntington County. In 1835, the county was divided into two parts, and Huntington became the only town in each part. Huntington continued to grow, and by 1870 it had a population of over 100,000. In 1907, the city of Huntington was founded on land that formerly belonged to the original town.
