Denton founded what would become known as Denton’s Mills which supplied flour to local farmers until 1906 when it closed down due to competition from larger mills built around Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. In 1916, General Electric began production at its new plant adjacent to present day Walmart across Sawmill Road from downtown Huntington; this set off a fire that destroyed much of the industry within four years and caused many permanent jobs lost throughout central Appalachia while creating emissions intense enough to require air quality monitoring near Marshall Field’s stores near Chicago! On September 26th 1938 Hurricane Floyd made landfall near Wilkesbarre OH damaging or removing most all structures within 15 miles including homes with roofs above ground level including some still standing today! One can only imagine how terrible it must have been for those living inside these buildings which were completely upturned with debris all around them including human remains mixed in with insulation materials!!! With no power or means to clean up such an atrocity one can only imagine how traumatizing it must have been especially if you were living outside on top of something like that... something truly horrible happened here and nobody knows about it anymore!!
