That same year, Fairmont became home to the world’s first indoor range when it opened on State Street. The range remained open until 1984 when it was closed due to lack of funding. However, thanks to donations from locals and tourists alike, the range reopened in 2006 under new ownership and renamed itself “The Gunsmith” gymnasium/range complex. This facility has been home to NRA events since 2007 and still hosts tournaments today! There are also several restaurants within walking distance as well as two movie theaters within driving distance.
