Beckley is a small town in Mingo County, West Virginia. The population was 3,711 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Mingo County and home to the Beckley School District and the Beckley Volunteer Fire Department. The first settlers in what is now Beckley were Quakers who established a mill on the Susquehanna River in 1784. In 1819, John Crouch purchased land here and began to build homes. By 1881, there were over 100 houses in Beckley. During World War II, Beckley was one of many towns within the United States that took part in the Battle of Europa Lake from 8-12 September 1945. After the war, residents rebuilt their homes and businesses using local materials and labor. In 1957, John Crouch donated his home for use as a public library which has been used continuously byBeckleys residents ever since. In recent years, tourism has become an important economic driver for Beckley with several properties owner/travelers hotels/motels located along Route 219 including Lighthouse Point Resort & Spa (opened in 2017), Crossroads Golf Resort & Conference Center (opened in 2018), Mineral King Lodge (opened in 2019) and Sixteenmile Falls Resort (Opened late Fall 2019).

Beckley is a small town in West Virginia, United States. The population was 568 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wheeling– Orbison, WV Metropolitan Statistical Area. Beckley was founded in 1876 by John C. Beckley and his family as a small community on the banks of the Ohio River. From its early days, Beckley has been an agricultural center with tobacco and corn farming as its primary industries. Over time, other industries have also become important to Beckley's economy; these include manufacturing operations associated with textiles and plastics manufacture, service businesses such as restaurants and hotels, and agriculture that includes milk production, hay production, and crop diversification activities such as olive oil production and beekeeping. Today, many of BeckLEY's residents are still engaged in agriculture or other traditional rural pursuits. The history of Beckleys current municipal government began when it was organized as a borough in 1881 under statehood laws passed by President James K. Polk during Reconstruction following the American Civil War. At first it consisted only of Mr. Hinton’s Store (later renamed Municipal Building) on Main Street; however, after incorporation into what is now Wheeling County some new buildings were added including Mr. Boggs’ Store (now Newton Department Store), Mrs Olsen’s House (now known as First Baptist Church), Mr Ladd’s Grain Elevator/Agricultural Storage Annexe/Grain Mill (the present day Post Office building), Mrs Newell’s Nursery School (later known as Mrs Newells Bakery), Dr Cooksey’s Cafe/School for Boys (later known as Doctor Cooksey Elementary School), Mrs White’s house for Laundry purposes only (now known as First National Bank). In 1907-08 efforts were made to build a school in Beckham but this proposal failed due to lack of money from local residents although construction did begin on what would eventually become Jordan High School which opened in 1909-10 using funds provided by local farmers through parcel sales held during the boom years before land became available for development near modern day Jordan Park Drive located just east of town bordering State Routes 1-19 on the west side of Dayton Hill Road where today there is an elementary school operated by East Side Schools Incorporated which serves students from prekindergarten through 8th grade along with several retail stores situated around downtown including one open air shopping mall anchored by two anchor companies IMAX Theater & Barnes & Noble Center which comprise one major component within One Stadium Plaza contains over 150 retailers anchors including Sears & JB HiLo
