Beckley, West Virginia is a small town located in the Charleston-Winchester Hills area of Spartanburg County. The population was 2,859 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Morgantown-Weston Area Council, and has been designated as a national historic district. The first gun in Beckley was an 18th century muzzleloader manufactured by Richard Beck. Other early firearms include two rifles made by John Winchester during the American Revolution, one made for George Washington and one for Thomas Jefferson. In 1853, Samuel Colt began manufacturing firearms in Beckley, producing revolvers and shotguns until his death in 1879. Colt's Manufacturing Company continued to operate in Beckley until it closed its doors in 1949. Until around 1880 guns were simply existing tools used for hunting or target shooting at home or among friends. However, gradually there began to be increasing calls for more powerful personal weapons that could be used on a wider scale against enemies and organized crimesters who were terrorizing small towns across America. This led to the development of what would become known as the "gun culture." Gun enthusiasts started purchasing firearms from local manufacturers starting around 1885 and soon became quite organized into clubs/ associations which marketing their own firearms products such as ammunition and accessories. Gun collectors also started forming groups which determined specific models and calibers of handguns they wanted to acquire or display at various events or exhibitions etcetera (eBay auctions being an excellent example). The Beckley gun parts story began in 1892 when George H. Beck, a carpenter and farmer in the town of Beckley, West Virginia, imported a shotgun from Canada. The shotgun was called the “Beckley Model A” and it featured a octagon-shaped barrel with a tapered breech. It had an 8-round magazine and was manufactured by the Canadian company Dicker & Sons. In 1897, George H. Beck purchased another shotgun from Dicker & Sons and called it the “Beckley Model B”. This shotgun featured a new breech system that allowed for more rounds to be fired through its 8-round magazine without having to reload manually. The model B also had a new barrel design that made it easier to handle than earlier shotguns. In 1907, George H. Beck hired John Sievers as his gunsmith and began production of the “Beckley Model C” which was designed specifically for hunting animals such as wild hogs or deer. The model C featured a hardwood stock with pistol grip ergonomics and an extended Monte Carlo trigger guard that made it easier for shooters to hold their guns while hunting animals. In 1911, George H. Beck passed away and his son Harry took over production of the “Beckley Model D” series shotguns at his father’s deathbed behest. The models D and E were produced until 1948 when all production ceased due to economic reasons。 The first rifles produced under this name were those chambered in .22 LR caliber which were marketed as self-loading pistols using conversion kits available from various manufacturers beginning in 1917..

Beckley is also home to the West Virginia University Monmouth Campus. The area now known as Beckley was first settled by people of British and Polish descent in 1785. In 1821, General John Beck took land for U.S. troops at what is now Beckley Lake from Native Americans and began construction of Fort Mifflin on the site. On November 27, 1861, during the American Civil War, General George Buell's Army of West Virginia numbered over 6500 men when it crossed the Potomac River into Maryland near present-day Washington D.C., just miles from where Beckley would be established one year later as a town on October 15, 1862 with a population of only 100 residents under the leadership of Mayor Elijah Smith and Captain James Hinton In 1875–1876 an effort was made to build a railroad through what is now Beckley but it failed due to lack of money and engineering expertise. A small post office operated until 1902 when mail service was discontinued because there were no roads in that region then or even today On May 7th 1870 local citizens voted 3-2 to secede from West Virginia and join the Confederacy while others led by Mayor Elijah Smith selected "Beckley" as their new name which they continued to use until January 11th 1865 following Union victory over Confederate General Robert E Lee at Antietam Ridge outside Baltimore A school opened in 1899 called Benton School District #1 which closed in 1912 due to budgetary limitations The first white high school student graduated from WVU Monmouth Academy in 1924 In 1927 a general store started up called Johnnie Johnsons selling groceries including candy bars The popularity of softball soon led to creation of the Beckleys High School Girls' Team (now Women's Sports Hall Of Fame) which won three state championships between 1936 and 1951; their last championship being in 1951

Beckley is a town and village in Greenbrier County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of Greenbrier County. Beckley was founded in 1811 by James Beckley and named for him. The first post office was established in 1812. The community of Beckley was laid out in 1811 by James Beckley, who also founded the town of Carbondale two miles to the south. He named it for himself because he had been saved from capture during the War of 1812 by his friends and family members on horseback. There are several theories about why Carbondale got its name: one suggests that it derived from a Native American word meaning "place where men hunt." Another theory suggests that carbondale means "a small stream crossing," given that there were many such crossings nearby when the town was first settled. In any case, carbondale became an important junction on the road between Huntington and Parkersburg before being moved to its present location north of Beckley in 1909 when that road was built through Greenbrier County. James Fenton purchased 2,000 acres (8 km²) adjacent to what would become Beckley in 1830; this land forms much of today's township (and part of Carbondale). At this time, there were only a few dozen settlers living within what is nowBeckley Township and most were farmers who used their lands to raised livestock or grow corn or other cropsWine production began soon after independence but dried up during the Great Depression; however, recent efforts have revived interest with plans to build wineries on 100 acres (40 hectares) surrounding present-day Carondelet Vineyard In 1875 local resident John Witherspoon donated 10 acres (4 hectares) east of current-day Main Street for a schoolhouse; it remains one of three surviving schools from Witherspoon's original donation In 1915 Rev JF Hogg donated 3 rods west off Main Street as well as 9acres (.27 km²), southeast corner lot #1 (now home of Stonewall Jackson Middle School), northwest corner lot #2 & lot #3 (& now site of Village Hall)to be used as open land for churches & farms adjoining them.; these donations formed what would become known as 'Hogg Grant'. On October 4th 1916 local resident Geo Ewing donated 4 rods northeast off Highways 219 & 220A into what would eventually become OldMainStreet . This donation formed what would become known as 'Ewing Grant'. Today's Old MainStreet stretches from just east sideHighway 219 all the way downstate to its western terminus at Interstate 76
