When Woodinville, Washington was founded in 1907, the town had only a few houses and no Farmers' Insurance. The first store in town was started by Fenton & Lester, who also built the first schoolhouse in the town. In 1916, Fred Weisbart opened his business of Home Furniture and Housewares at 12th and Main Street. Weisbart would remain owner of his business until he died in 1966. In 1922, Mr. & Mrs. Melvin Wiggs bought a farm on South Union Road from Cushman & Nibley. They increased their land holdings to include 33 acres by 1918 when they donated land for a new high school (now Roosevelt High School). This gift allowed Woodinville to have its own high school and gave it access to resources that other towns lacked such as money and teachers. The first glass window in the high school was installed in 1924 by Jens Kappelhoff of Seattle Tacoma Glass Works Incorporated with assistance from local carpenters Harry Gleason and John Weller Sr.. It is still on display today! In 1928, Mrs. Wiggs gifted additional acreage to the school which now includes part of downtownWoodinville. In 1933, Drs.-Edwin Mecham and Hilda Feinstein established an optometry practice at 6th Avenue Northeast and NE 104th Street after seeing an opportunity to open up shop near Interstate 5 just north of town limits. Drs.-Edwin Mecham would remain owner/operator of Mecham’s Optical Clinic until his death in 1984; Hilda Feinstein would continue as proprietor until her death in 2006.

In 1951, OIMC merged with other companies to form Zenith Radio Corporation.

The couple quickly built up a thriving business importing goods from Japan and other parts of Asia. They also started making their own products - woodblocks and then plywood - which soon became popular throughout Western Washington. By 1865James and Martha had two children: James Jr., who followed his father into business;and Eliza Jane (née Glover). With their new family established, the Wodginvilles turned their attention to growing their farmstead even more; they raised livestock, made bricks for churches and schools, ran a bakery and grocery store... And when World War I began (it was actually America's entry into World War I that initiated what would eventually become known as the "Wodginville Miracle"), the Wodginvilles put all their resources into helping feed Seattle's war effort vital munitions production plants! After V-E Day (the Armistice) came 1918's Wall Street Crash which impacted both Spokane Valley & Eastern WA hardest; many businesses closed including retailers like those run by James & Eliza Jane Sr.: But through tireless work ethic & determinedness WWI provided endedeared them to many locals long after hostilities ceased It wasn't until 1950 that electric railways finally reached our small town – via Amtrak’s “President” train service! At that point things really got moving… people got streetlights, water supplies were piped in (& improved), electric cars replaced horses/bicycles on local streets etcetera etcetera! Since then we’ve seen steady growth – reaching 12k today just based on population growth rate alone!
