The city of Woodinville is located in Thurston County, Washington. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. The city is named for Edwin Woodin, a U.S. Congressman from Washington Territory. The first house in the current town was built in 1854 by James Denton and his family. In 1870, John Ladd moved to Woodinville and started a flour mill which became one of the largest mills in the area. In 1902, the first telephone line was established in Woodinville and it continued to be used until 1955 when it was replaced by cable TV service. In 1907, developers built what is now Pioneer Hall on land that had been part of an old Indian village that they were developing into a town. The hall served as both a local government center and school until it burned down in 1951. After being rebuilt as a business complex, it closed again in 1984 and was demolished later that year. In 1992, developer Bob Carroll developed Green Valley Center on land near Pioneer Hall which became one of Woodinville's most prominent properties and remains active today as a shopping mall with several anchor stores including Sears & Roebuck (now Kmart), JCPenney, Lowe's Electronics Store, Macy's Department Store and Walmart Supercenter

Woodinville is a town in Washington County, Oregon, United States. The population was 2,836 at the 2010 census. It was founded on November 3, 1889 by George Denny and his wife Lillie Woodin. The first post office in Woodinville was established on December 1, 1892. The name of the town was changed to Woodinville on October 15, 1907. On February 14, 1912 the first school in the town opened with grades one through twelve. In 1925 the community built its first high school which served students from kindergarten through twelfth grade until it closed in 2004.In 1957 they built their second high school which still serves students from kindergarten through twelfth grade today as well as online courses for adults and special needs students. In 1978 they erected their third high school which now serves students from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade as well as online courses for adults and special needs students along with an addition of a library and additional classrooms for instruction purposes. On November 3rd 1889 George Denny set out from Portland after hearing about a gold field near Gold Rush era Fort Vancouver he founded what would become known as "Woodinville." He married his love Lillie in 1885 and together they founded this small but Adamantian community that quickly grew into a thriving small town located just outside of Salem Oregon with over 2 thousand residents at its peak during World War I when it had up to fifty businesses including many lumber yards situated throughout wooded hillsides providing enough natural cover to support snipers while also housing large military encampments such as Camp Baker (later Camp Lewis) within 5 miles of downtown Woodinville! By 1924 all but two businesses were gone due to economic depression but despite this decline Home Depot became one of the original tenants when it moved into its current location across SE Main Street from City Hall in 1998! Polk, who had been president when the area was first surveyed. The town grew rapidly and soon became a major transportation center for the region. In 1902, Woodinville annexed the neighboring village of Redmond. In 1916, it merged with nearby Bothell to form what is now Seattle City Hall Square.
