Woodinville is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 15,898 at the 2010 census. It is the largest town in King County by population. The name of the town has been spelled many different ways over time- Woodinville, WOODINVILLE, and WOODINVILLE MINOR until it was settled on July 3rd 1853 by James Prentice and his family as the site for their new farmstead. The first settler in what would become Woodinville was John Wesley Woodruff who arrived on July 3rd 1853 with his family from Georgia. The name of the community came about because a man named James Prentice found large amounts of wood near where he now stands (the present day intersection of State Route 99 and Main Street). This caused people to give him various names such as "Prentice's Woods" or simply "Woodinville".

Woodinville is a city in Washington County, Oregon, United States. The population was 10,890 at the 2010 census. It is home to The Woodinville School District and the Northwest Christian University. The first European visitors to what is now Woodinville arrived in 1792 during the FIRST SETTLERS FALLOUT of the North West Company with Captain Jonathan Bent as interpreter. They named their new settlement after General James Douglas and his army who had just destroyed Fort Vancouver on the Columbia River. In 1824, Judge Isaac Van Buren became Woodinville's first mayor after he won election as a Democrat to serve two terms for which hereceived no nominations from any of the other candidates. In 1886, George Wickersham organized The Pacific Railroad through portions of Oregon then westward into Washington County and named it after himself- this was also the first time that anyone had traveled east of the Cascade Mountains without taking into account Pettit’s Creek (later known as Willamette River). He also donated land for a town site on present day NE 50th Street and part of NE 61st Avenue near Interbay Park. When starting out from Portland bound I-5 southbound on Thanksgiving Day 1886, Wickersham noticed an overlook between Cascades National Park & Mount Rainier National Park called "The View". He knew that if he could get someone along side him to build a road directly across from Mount Rainier National Park then maybe somebody would think it was worth building a town around it instead of driving all around! So he got together with some friends and started The Puget Sound Bridge Company which would eventually become Seattle Bridge & Development Corporation undercurrent CEO Woody Johnson today!
