Some of the earliest firearms in Woodinville were pistols and rifles that were used for hunting. The first gun store in the town was founded by a man named John Fenton in 1837. From 1840-1846, guns were sold at the Masonic Lodge until it closed down due to financial issues. In 1851, Gunsmiths Arms & Ammunition was started by Amos Green and his brother-in-law Hiram Cobb. It was one of the first businesses to sell firearms online. In 1865, Woodinville had its first post office and began producing its own stamps. In 1886, police officers began using handguns as part of their department's uniformed patrols. This led to the creation of the Woodinville Police Department Pistol Club which held meets every other month to keep track of new handguns being manufactured in town. Starting in 1897, pistol magazines became common inrored with automatic weapons like machineguns and grenade launchers becoming more prevalent during World War I and World War II (WW1-1939). As these types of weaponry spread across different departments throughout Washington state, magazines became an important tool for arms dealers and law enforcement officials alike. Magazine capacity increased from 8 rounds per magazine with revolvers up to 30 rounds with submachine Guns or Assault Rifles (AMRPs) like the M4 carbine starting out at 20 rounds maximum per mag tube! The first settler in what would become Woodinville was Hiram Lodge, who purchased 640 acres (249 ha) east of present-day Seattle in 1851. Hiram Lodge and his son Amos were two of the original founders of Seattle. In 1854, John Sellers set up a sawmill on the nearby shore of Elliott Bay to supply lumber for the expanding town. By 1865, whenSeattle became an incorporated city, it had reached its peak as a lumber center with mills located at First Avenue and Alki Street; Second Avenue ran parallel to Mercer Street across Elliott Bay. However, this period also saw major development in downtown Seattle, including construction of Parkland Cemetery and groundbreaking for Lake Union School which served asSeattle's first public school. In 1907–8 W M Stroudt started developing what would become Woodinville after purchasing land near present-day Pioneer Square from several individual investors – including banker interested Samuel Morse Stroudt before later moving into his own home there with wife Alice Morse Stroudt (1862-1939). Soon after purchase though he leased out some acreage to other developers until he had developed over 1 square mile (2 km²) on three blocks bounded by Cascade Avenue NE., Pacific Highway NE., and Union Street SE.. This area now includes much of Downtown Woodinville - including Coopers & Hawkes department store - as well as parts of Central District neighborhoods like First Hill and Yesler Way Northwest which are today part of Ballard neighbourhoods
The city of Woodinville was founded in 1853 by James H. Woodward and his wife, Anna P. Woodward. The city was named for Anna's brother, John WOODWARD, who had settled in the area in 1847. In 1865, the United States government granted land to the town on which it now stands for the construction of Fort Snelling Army Base. The base served as a training ground for American troops during World War I and II. Woodward was mayor of Woodinville from 1898 to 1904; he also served as president of the Washington State Senate from 1907 to 1909. In 1916, he became first African American elected to Congress from Seattle County when he won election as a Democrat against incumbent Republican Tom Foley. He represented Washington until his death in 1929 at age 79 years old.
