He renamed this newly developed area Dupont Circle after himself - one of several successful business ventures begun by Ladd along Dupont Circle Road (now known as Venona Road). This heartland commercial district saw its heyday during World War I when military personnel Local 9259 built 14 miles (~24 km) long underground transit tunnel under downtown Seattle carrying goods & passengers directly into & out of Tacoma Naval Shipyard on Bainbridge Island using what are now called “L’Enfant Plaza” pedestrian bridges across Elliott Bay – making it possible for soldiers home on leave or discharged veterans alike shorten their voyage by disembarking at Dupont Circle instead then walking all the way back+the necessary stopovers at Pioneer Square before finally reaching their barracks or deployments terminals ashore! All told about 1 ½ million people took advantage of this service during WWI + another 350 thousand International travelers utilizing it! It wasn't until 1949 that light rail arrived via Track 10 linking Downtown Seattle with Ballard/Downtown Tacoma – completely changing how workers moved about both cities throughout those years! The first permanent settlers in the area were the Whitman brothers, who founded what is now Woodinville in 1847. The town was named for General John C. Woolridge, who led U.S. forces against Mexican forces during the Mexican-American War. The town was incorporated on February 14, 1857.
