This official Declaration of War between America and Great Britain was fired from a cannon located on Battery Hill. In 1974, Northwest Airlines moved their corporate headquarters from Tacoma to Woodinville; it remained there until 1996 when they relocated back to Tacoma after purchasing Boeing's former facility there. In 2000, Pioneer Place Shopping Center opened adjacent to Northwest Airlines' old hangar which had been used as their Corporate Headquarters during their move from Tacoma to Woodinville back in 1974). This shopping center became known locally as "Pioneer Place" because it was here that most early company expansions took place such as KFC/ Sonic Drive-In & Pizza Hut etc.. Pioneer Place continued being anchored by Northwest Airlines until 2006 when they vacated their building due to budget cuts within NASA's Johnson Space Center complex across I-5 from where they had been headquartered for over 40 years!
