Woodinville, Washington is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,651 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle–Tacoma metropolitan area. Woodinville is bordered by lake Washington to the north, Rainier Valley to the east and south, and Bellevue to the west. The first ammunition made in Woodinville was powder for muzzle-loading cannons that were developed by Captain David Woolridge of British Columbia in 1885. Ammunition production began on a small scale in 1907 when Wm Hargrave & Sons erected a manufacturing plant on land donated by John Dickson. By 1912 there were six plants producing munitions including three owned by General Mills. In 1922 General Mills merged with American Tobacco Company forming American Tobacco Corporation which continued to produce ammunition until 1970 when it merged with Browning USA Incorporated to form Browning Arms and Ammo Corporation (BAO). In 1860, timber company president John Denny donated land to make way for what would become Seattle’s streetcar system which started service in 1861... After becoming an independent City on December 3rd of 1851 Woodinville quickly grew due to its fertile soil and proximity to industry including logging mills and grain storage warehouses... By 1870 only 12 buildings remained within the boundaries of present day Woodinville while over 100 businesses had been established within blocks radius of downtown... Growth continued with new development such as Northgate Shopping Center which was developed in the early 1960s adjacent to Headland Park Golf Course

The first Europeans to visit what is now Woodinville were Captain George Vancouver and his crew on HMS Discovery in 1792, who charted the Northwest Passage. In 1851, the Marietta and Seattle Railroad was built through the region, which helped spurred growth and development. The city of Woodinville was established in 1907 when it merged with nearby Bellevue. In 1956, Washington statehood occurred, and Woodinville became a part of the new state. Today, Woodinville is one of the most affluent communities in Washington State and continues to grow rapidly as a center for education, retailing and professional services.
