Today, Wenatchee has more than 14 thousand residents within its limits and it continues to be a center for government services such as education and health care.. Today's economy is based on manufacturing and service sector jobs; however,.the city has seen some recent redevelopment efforts which are hoped will revitalize its downtown area with new businesses and housing units

Postcards became an important medium for communication due to their durability and ability to be stored multiple times without losing their shape or color! In 1932 Konrad Zuse designed his first electronic camera which used metal plates instead of glass negatives for Photography! This was followed by his first digital camera in 1976 which Revolutionized Photo Imaging! Today we still use photographic equipment such as Cameras and Lenses to capture moments in time!

Wenatchee, Washington is the most geographically diverse city in the United States. The town lies on the Puget Sound between Seattle and Tacoma and shares borders with Olympia to the east, Bellevue to the west, and Yakima to the north. The city proper covers an area of just over 116 square miles (291 square kilometers). The first Europeans to visit Wenatchee were fur traders from Russia in 1807. The town was founded in 1876 as a trading post on what is now North Water Street. By 1897 it had a population of about 100 people. In 1901 Wenatchee became an incorporated town under state law. Wenatchee was named after George Wenham who settled near present-day Wenatchee Falls in 1851. The name may be derived from a word meaning “big water” or “tidal stream” because of nearby hills that rise above tide water levels at high points on the sound where Wenatchee Creek flows into Puget Sound. In 1916, when General Motors decided not to open a plant in Seattle due to Great Depression conditions, GM built its first car factory here—the then largest car manufacturing center in America—at North Water Street and James Street NW.GM closed down operations here in 1984 but left behind some legacy buildings including the former engine house for North Western Motors which still stands today next door at 9th & Pennsylvania Avenue NW
The Wenatchee Valley was first settled by the Native Americans in the area now known as Washington. The valley was named for a place called Wenatchee Creek, which is located in what is now eastern Washington. In 1851, Maj. Gen. George Armistead Custer and his Seventh Cavalry fought a battle at the Battle of Washita River near present day Wenatchee. This event marked the start of white man's encroachment into Indian country and helped convince Congress to pass the Indian Reorganization Act of 1868, which created several new tribes in east Washington and western Oregon.
