Wenatchee, Washington is home to the world’s second largest gun manufacturer. The company, Smith & Wesson, has been making firearms in Wenatchee since 1892. Today, Smith & Wesson manufactures revolvers and pistols as well as shotguns and rifles. The company was founded by Samuel Colt, who started manufacturing guns in 1857 in Hartford, Connecticut. In 1892, Smith & Wesson moved its operations to Wenatchee and continues to manufacture firearms there today. The company also produces a wide variety of ammunition products including shot shells, birdshot pellets and rifle rounds. Smith & Wesson has been critical for the success of gun manufacturers in Wenatchee over the years. In 1998, the company was awarded a federal grant that helped it build a new factory near the city center which became the largest single employer in Wenatchee. It also built a public library within walking distance of its factory which provides many blocks with access to weapons training materials and other safety information on weapons use.

Wenatchee is a small town in the Yakima Valley of Washington, United States. The population was 9,439 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Douglas County. Wenatchee was founded in 1855 by Captain George Vancouver and his wife Rachelle as a fur trading post on the eastern edge of what is now Yakima County. The town grew slowly after that until it exploded in growth during World War II when Wenatchee became an air base for Boeing airplanes manufacturing in nearby Moses Lake. After the war, Wenatchee continued to grow rapidly with new housing, businesses and schools being built along Main Street and elsewhere. Today, Wenatchee remains a vibrant community with strong cultural ties to its surrounding region and beyond. Wenatchee's history can be traced back to 1855 when Captain George Vancouver and his wife Rachelle founded what would eventually become known as Wenatchee as a fur trading post on the eastern edge of what is now Yakima County. For many years, the post functioned primarily as an important stop on Vancouver's route from Fort Hall to Lewisburg in neighboring Thurston County. In 1857, Captain George Vancouver made contact with Kootenai tribesman who had recently moved into present-day Yakima Valley from their ancestral home up around Seattle Island. The captain negotiated trade agreements with these Indians which led to increasing trade between Puget Sound locals and Native Americans throughout much of North America during this time period- including traders traveling down through present-day Tacoma and Lyndenhurst (now Bellevue) neighborhoods on their way into British Columbia or Oregon markets! In 1860, Vancouver also constructed his first log cabin within what is now Wenatchee village limits – sharing it with other Fur trappers working outlying areas at that time! Captain George Vancouvers Fur Trading Company operated outposts along Puget Sound for most of their careers; however they did not remain active long after coming under Ulysses S Grant administration following Napoleons French occupation of Washington in 1802! In 1865, upon becoming President Abraham Lincolns Secretary of State & Chief Justice John Beecher Stiles issued Order No 3 which banned allNative American trapping & travel within Indian Territory!! This order created some serious tension within local aboriginal communities as certain individuals & groups saw increased opportunity for economic gain following this prohibition!!! With this developing issue (& additional laws passed by Congress), Captain George Vancouver sold his business interests within the company in 1865 & relocated permanently to Canada where he lived until his death in 1903!!! By 1870 WENATCHEE HAD GOTTEN ITS OWN CITIZENS Assessed 1 ½¢ per acre !! This new magazine was called a “bullet journal” because it allowed users to take any number of rounds at once without having to reload. As more people began using guns for their everyday needs, they started requirements for better magazines became more demanding. In 1858, John Browning introduced his Improved Model rifle whichrequired installation of a bullet journal system in order to achieve accuracy within range. This change would later lead to the development of rifles such as the AR15 rifle that use today’s modern mag systems

The Wenatchee area has been inhabited for over 6,000 years. The first known permanent U.S. settlement in the Wenatchee region was on the present-day site of Yakima County in 1854. The town of Wenatchee was founded by Captain John Cranch and his party from Oregon during the Gold Rush era. In 1886, the General Mining District was formed in the Wenatchee area, and a number of mines were developed in that area over the next few decades. The most important mine in this period was the Klamath Mine, which produced significant amounts of gold and silver ore. In 1907, a group of people led by Captains George Dallimore and Hiram Stevens started a campaign to improve irrigation systems around the Wenatchee Valley. This effort resulted in increased crop production and new housing opportunities for settlers throughout the region. By 1916, there were more than 1,500 people living in Wenatchee County; this figure increased to 4,500 by 1930. During World War II, many local businesses served as suppliers to nearby military bases; these businesses declined following the war but resumed operations after 1945. Families continue to live in Wenatchee today and its economy is largely based on agriculture and tourism; however, there are some efforts underway to revive downtown Yakima as an economic center for the valley.
