This company traded goods between Canada and Seattle until 1905 when it merged into The Vancouver Company Incorporated. After a few years there was a Chinese family living here which later became known as "The Heiks". In 1902-03 some Germans settled here also becoming known as "The Grosse Familie" or Big Family because they had brought over many farm animals along with them when they left their home country during World War I. By 1916 there were 92 residents in all including 11 farmerssteads) In 1923-24 an act called for land grants totalling 640 acres (242 hectares) for settlement near present day Washougal village by those who had purchased allotments from Juanita Rasmussenbeck back in 1916-17 when she began selling these parcels at fifteen cents per acre (.27 square kilometers). This original township would grow gradually larger until 1925 when it became organized as “Washougall” under territorial jurisdiction following purchase from Rasmussenbeck by Atherton Development Co., Ltd., developers of Shoreline Drive & North Thurston Streets area just south of downtown Tacoma This organization would become one of two townships within Thurston County which would continue to grow until 1959 when it too was annexed by Tacoma When Thurston County was established in 1889 it included parts now lying within Pierce County including most of what is today Olympia On July 24th 1909 Washingtontown acquired lands east & northeast of central business district (CBD), incorporating #1128 owners from #1084 owner#1123 Transfer Record filed 8/20/1909
