In 1945, Northwest Glass & Mirror Corp.'s main plant was destroyed by fire; however, the employees who were still working at the other stores continued to sell glassware and other optics items until 1949 when they closed their doors for good.
Washougal is a town in Clallam County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census. Washougal is part of the town of Olympia and the rural community of North Bend. The first European to visit what is now Washougal was Juan de Fuca in 1604. In 1851, the town was platted and named after General George Washburne; however, it didn't become a municipality until 1907. It had a population of 561 in 1910 but increased to 1,848 by 2000. The growth has been due to its location on Puget Sound and its access to education and jobs in Seattle or Tacoma. Washougal is located at (47.724149,-121.359778). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all of it land. As of the census[2] of 2010, there were 1,848 people residing in the town: 602 households out of which 45% had children underthe ageof 18 living with them,[3] 50% were married couples living together,[4] 36% had a female householder with no husband present,[5] and 24% were non-families.[6] In addition thereto there are 10 unmarried opposite-sex partnerships[7], 2 same-sex married couples or partnerships[8], 3 households that consist onlyof individuals who are not relatedto anyone else,[9] and 9 households that include someoneoresidence because they are institutionalized.[10] There are also 5 households made up entirelyof renters(100% rental).[11]. Of all residentsiskinds 31%, owner occupied housing units represented 55%, while renteroccupied housing units represented 25%. As such almost one third (32%)ofthe residents reside in owner occupied housing units while less than one half (19%) residesin renteroccupied housing units
