Roosevelt's New Deal programs, Congress passed Resolution 7590 which called for development within 100 miles (160 km) of any city or town serving over 10 thousand residents within five years without special permission from Congress. Roosevelt approved this plan in his State Of The Union Address on December 6th 1933. This program led to the dramatic growthofWalla Wallan townships such as Sunnyside and Monocacy during 1934-1935; these towns were named after Ulysses S Grant Park on Mount Adams Boulevard west-northwest of downtown Spokane Falls
