Walla Walla, Washington is a city in the U.S. state of Washington. The population was 54,528 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Yakima Valley region and is bordered by Kittitas County to the south, Clark County to the east, and Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs and Okanogan County to the north. The Yakima River flows through town. The first European settler in what is now Walla Walla was Juan Manuel de Quesada on May 10, 1792 when he landed on what is now Point Defiance Island from Spanish America with his expedition led by José Antonio Mejía y Quadriero. Quesada named it provisionalmente La Push after his native country of Puerto Rico which he had just discovered. He also founded Yacatán in 1794 as part of his explorations along what are now Pacific Northwest rivers as part of his attempt to gain control over that area for Spain or its viceroyalty (Nueva Esparta). In 1847, after Mexican forces invaded California under General Antonio López de Santa Anna they reached Walla Walla at an important junction on the Snake River where they were able to build Fort Carlton near present day Yelma before continuing their march upriver past modern day Spokane into Oregon Territory. In 1862 duringthe American Civil War General Oliver O'Donnel's army marched through town towards Seattle while supplies were being brought upriver through Silchar and wallowing in mud caused by heavy rains upstream; this event was known as "The Mud March". At least two small battles were fought here between Union troops and Confederate irregulars but no major engagements took place due to lack of munitions available on either side at that time. Afterward most people left for camps outside town due to food shortages within Columbia City itself caused by agricultural inputs floods coming down the river following rainstorms events like these which occurred throughout much of 1861-1862 especially during late winter months "Walla Walla" meaning "pale yellow" may be traced back to early 18th century traders who visited this area looking for whitegold deposits along current day US 101 corridor between Enumclaw and Auburn before sailing downriver up river then takingland across Elliott Bayou until reaching Puget Sound whereupon returning home again often stopping off at various places along way including today’s Yelm only 16 miles south." -Wikipedia

Walla Walla, located in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, is a small town and census-designated place (CDP) on the Olympic Peninsula. With a population of 902 as of 2010,[1] it is the most populous CDP on the Peninsula. It is also one of the most ethnically diverse CDPs in Washington State. The name "Walla Walla" is derived from Chinookan words meaning "mountain peak." The peak was first sighted by Captain John George Vancouver during his 1792 expedition to chart and explore British Columbia. The area that would become Walla Walla was first settled by Native Americans about 15 miles (24 km) east of present-day Olympia. At first, these people were hunter-gatherers who collected plant matter for their subsistence needs and traded goods with other local tribes. By 1825, however, some white settlers had arrived in what is now WallaWalla County and began to build log cabins and Adobe Walls, which soon became major settlements. In 1853, Congress passed an act creating Washington Territory including parts of what are now Wash., Pierce., and Yakima Counties. This made WallaWalla County part of Washington Territory along with all of Whatcom County except for portions within today's Mercer Island Borough boundaries; this change left much to be desired for aboriginal people who lived near both banks of Puget Sound until they were abruptly removed in 1893 when President Grover Cleveland established Indian reservations throughout all or part of western Washington state following years long conflict over land ownership between various indigenous groups and colonists/settlers
