As a result, many companies went out Of Business during wartime (John Cockerill being particularly hard hit).In 1918 Congress passed National Firearms Act which banned most handguns within 50 miles of any federal office buildings “for use or training in assassination or warfare by secret agents” effective January 1st 1919 At this point most manufacturers had stopped making handguns so there wasn’t much left over that could be used for military purposes NRA later said “The purpose was notto create a single type of handgun … but rather every type made before 1934 should be classified as such” In 1927 John Moses Browning revived John Cockerill's old Ballistite Manufacturing Company Ltd., located on SE Tacoma Street since 1901 eliminated all doubt about his ownership status as sole proprietor with an iron grip AWB continued operations until 1930 with new president Alonzo Mourning filling that position until 1936 when AWB merged into Remington Arms Corporation

After failing twice to achieve success in getting US Patent 711/1859 (the first US air mail), he convinced then-Senator George Bird Griggs (R) of Indiana to fund a new airmail service with an experimental plane flown by him across Lake Union from Seattle through Tacoma Airport on May 2nd 1889 On July 1st 1889, Hughes' airplane became history as he flew his "Eagle" across Lake Union from Seattle through Tacoma Airport - thus becoming one of only two people everto have done so! On October 12th 1890 Ulysses S Grant granted Hughes US patent #719/90 for his successful endeavor! As technology progressed throughout America during this time period there was no lack of invention or innovation when it came to transportation - especially aerial transportation! In 1910 Boeing received their first commercial order for a $6 million Curtiss hangar built at Camden Field in Everett WA after winning a competition held by Glenn Curtiss Sr., father of Boeing Aircraft Company founders Conrad Noyes and Donald Wuerffel! This marked not just a milestone but also an important turning point as Boeing began production of their very successful Douglas Harvards which would continue until they merged into Lockheed Martin Corporation some 40 years later! By 1930 Boeing had produced over 250000 aircraft!!! Today they produce over 800000 aircraft per year!!!! It truly shows how far aviation has come since those early days!!
