The Soft Gun Case Company was founded in Tumwater, Washington by two brothers in 1934. The company manufactured and distributed soft holsters for handguns. The company was purchased by Browning Firearms Corporation in 1961 and the soft gun case business became known as Browning’s GunCase Corporation. In 1984, the company merged with the Colt Canadian Firearms Manufacturing Company to form Colt Canada Incorporated. In 2001, Browning Firearms Corporation merged with Glock, Inc. to form Glock, Inc., a corporation that manufactures firearms and ammunition of all types.

The Tumwater Rifle and Pistol Museum is a museum located in the city of Tumwater, Washington that specializes in firearms and ammunition from throughout Washington state. The museum was started in 1978 by then-Mayor Bob Siegel and has since grown to include more than 20,000 items from across the state.
Tumwater is a small town in Washington County, Oregon, United States. The population was 2,953 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wenatchee–King Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Tumwater" likely comes from the Chinook word "tuh-mah-waht", meaning 'big water'. The first European to visit Tumwater was Capt. George Vancouver on June 6, 1792 during his explorations of Puget Sound. He named it Nisqually because he could not find any other white settlements in that area and thought the local Indians would recognize the name as their own if they found it again later. In 1881, farmers on an adjacent farm began to irrigate their land with ditches dug into hills and banks of clear water called Big Water Creek. By 1887 all of Tumwater had been platted as a city by John Hutton and others who leased land from the Yakima Nation under an agreement giving them exclusive use of Big Water Creek for fifty years beginning September 1, 1886. When that lease expired in 1928, most of the citizens left for various reasons: timber sales dried up after 1929; World War II led to shortages in aluminum; and then there was post-war decline which followed job loss due to automation and globalization. Ida Fenton became mayor in 1953 when she ran unopposed against incumbent Harry Wessels after he retired from office two years earlier due to ill health;lda Fenton served until her death in 1977 (a year before City Councilwoman Gayle McLaughlin). During Ida Fenton's tenure a new library building was completed on Main Street (now State Route 97) and dedicated on October 3rd 1954 by Mayor Fenton herself; this library is still used today as part of Wahkiakum County Library System. In 1978 voters approvedMeasure 5 which allowed liquor stores within city limits subject to state regulation while still providing tax benefits for smaller stores outside of city limits that chose not to open alcohol sales;; Measure 6 repealed Measure 5 but continued funding for libraries within city limits through special assessments levied against property owners outside of city boundaries; these assessments continue today as part of current zoning regulations related to liquor stores inside or close to citieslimitsToday's downtown core is composed largelyof commercial buildings erected between 1951 and 1957 following growth around Interstate 5 just west of town center.; Prior thereto there were several residences built along what is now State Route 97 south side including one known as "the White House". In addition numerous farmsteads were located near present day HWY 99 east side including one known as "the Copper Mine". The Townspeople organized themselves into a fire department on November 15th 1902 using money contributed by silver miners working nearby Mount Greylock Caverns.; This establishment remains active today as Wenatchee Volunteer Fire Department #1.. A pump Oxygen station also existed at this time but its function has long since ceased.; On December 10th 1907 members from throughout Wenatchee County gathered at Tumwater Church where they elected David Beatty chairman pro tempore facto over incumbent Jno Merrill.; Mr. Beatty remained head administrator until his retirement effective July 1st 1912.. After David Beatty's retirement many decisions about town government were made through appointment rather than election so that continuity would be maintained.. From 1916 until 1959 when it merged with neighboring OlympiaCity government operations were conducted out Building 1401 acrossfrom Post Office
