A new community development called "Tumwater Place" was announced plans to be developed adjacent to Interstate 5 south of town; however this project has been postponed multiple times due various challenges with financing and environmental concerns.. Tumwater, Washington is a small town located in the eastern Yakima County of Washington. The population was 2,898 at the 2010 census.
