In 1903-04 there was an effort by residents to get a water system for their community which would have cost $2 million dollars but no money was ever raised and only one pipe was built instead because of lack of interest from investors who thought it would be too expensive to maintain and operate such a system when there were already many municipally run water systems throughout Washtenaw County. In 1912-13 voters approved a bond measure for increased public works including streetlights and new sewers as well as providing funds for school construction Notre Dame (now Central High School)was built in 1916 on land donated by Mrs John Fenton among others during that time period when streets were alignment changed due to annexation of neighboring communities including Southcenter (1924), Northcenter (1927), Eastlake (1928), Westlake (1929) and Northwest Heights(1930). The 20th century saw growth with both manufacturing businesses expanding into new facilities as well as residential development taking place especially along First Street NW near Interstate 5 which became known as "The Strip." Businesses included automobiles, breweries, light meat processing plants, paper products plants until THE last big expansion happened with Microsoft coming to town followed by Amazon after they started open up shop here again starting back up in 1984 just prior to our current recession where much job loss took place; however some believe this may have been aided or even caused by newcomers looking for cheaper cost impossible living while workers simply shifted away from larger municipalities sparking housing busts throughout various parts of WA confined largely within urban cores across our state

During World War II, Tukwila served as a military garrison for Kwajalein Atoll and other islands in Kaneohe Bay Naval Base area as well as Forston Island off of Olympia Heights on Olympic Peninsula. In 1951, Tukwila became an annexed city of Seattle with its own government and City Council . After years of growth spurred by high quality job opportunities during suburbanization throughout Washington State during the early 2000s, Tukwila experienced significant decline during the Great Recession beginning in 2007-2009 while most other parts of King County saw larger increases due to population growth due to new development around Everett or SeaTac Airport While there have been some recent successes such as efforts to increase funding for arts programs through voter initiatives (e.g., Measure M), much work still needs to be done if Tukwila is going to maintain its current level of success both economically and culturally
