By 1870 streetcar service had arrived in town; by 1880 it had also developed into a major transportation hub with several railroad stations nearby. In 1910 Tacoma City purchased all of Kitsap County except portions of Westport which remain within Kitsap County today (the westernmost portion being annexed by Everett in 1907). This caused much growth within Kitashawbay National Forest boundaries outside of town limits where forest officers conducted more general forestry activities than those inside town limits until 1974 when park headquarters moved from Olympia to provide better management facilities on park lands outside of town limits). During World War II When Tacoma City was occupied by Japan during World War II most residents evacuated leaving their homes behind which resulted in extensive demolitions taking place throughout downtown including some old schoolhouses that still stand today! In 1855, Tacoma became an incorporated town when it was granted a charter from Territorial Governor James Keedy. In 1907, Tacoma annexed land east of Lake Union which made it one of the largest cities in northwest Washington. In 1928, Seattle agreed to sell its share in Tacoma for $2 million to create a city-county merger which would make Tukwila one of Seattle’s five consolidated cities. This merger created new jobs and growth for Tukwila during its early years as a city-county entity.
