The sunnyside Armory was founded in 1892 and is one of the oldest gun stores in Sunnyside. The store has been open ever since. In 1916, the armory became a rifle range. In 1949, it became a shotguns store. It closed its doors in 1984 but reopened as a handgun store in 1986. The armory also had an indoor shooting range from 1978 to 1984.
Sunnyside, Washington is a census-designated place in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 5,839 at the 2010 census. Sunnyside is located on the eastern edge of Seattle and south of Redmond. It borders North Seattle to the north and east; Bellevue to the southeast; Mercer Island to the southwest; and Puget Sound to the west. Sunnyside was platted in 1886 by John Prentice as part of what would become Bellevue Township in King County. The name "Sunny Side" was derived from its location on a high bluff overlooking Elliott Bay. In 1892, James Caird bought land adjacent to what is now Sunnyside from George Kerr for $5 per acre (0.50 km²). He built a home there called "Caird's Cliff", which remains standing today. In 1907, Harry Laughlin donated land northwest of Sunnyside for a new school district that would become known as Bellevue Schools District #2. The first school building was built on this site in 1909. In 1916, after World War I ended, consolidation of King County schools began and Sunnyside became part of Bellevue School District #1 under new school board policies that allowed single-member districts with no more than 30 students per square mile (). In 1954, when annexation into King County occurred due to growth within Bellevue Schools District #2 during that decade, Sunnyside also joined the newly formed county government and changed its name to Sunnyside Heights (). That same year saw construction begin on the current day sunnisIDE Park (), which sits atop an old railroad right-of-way just east of Interstate 5 between Everett Road and Pioneer Way W., across from CenturyLink Field on Lake Union National Recreation Area property (). The park opened in 1965 as one of four parks served by then newly created King County Parks Department (); it has been expanded several times since then with additional land donations/ purchases through different eras (e.g., most recently via condemnation proceedings following a fire in 2016 which destroyed much of the park). Today it features an open fields area complete with playgrounds/playgrounds for children alongwith large picnic areas & grills for group picnics (& barbecues!). There are also several stores & businesses nearby including Starbucks Coffee!

Sunnyside is a census-designated place in Clark County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. The community was platted on July 3, 1908 by J.C. Sunnyside and Wm. Hargrave as part of the Soanyside School District #2 land grant from King George III to John Cowlingshire and James Auld. The name "Sunnyside" comes from nearby Mount Snohomish which casts a broad shade over much of Sunnyside during summertime; this account of its creation may have been inspired by early settler Cornelius Vanderbilt's 1847 observation that the sun never sets near Puget Sound without darkening parts of the town "below Montrose Hill". According to one source, in 1919 Sunnyside had 10 residents and “no schools or other common interests with reference to social life” so it voted unanimously not to become a city effective that year due to lack of support from local officials despite having an active business district with seven businesses listed in 1917 as well as two churches and several residences. In 1924 there were only three residents but “the present day company store has done more for this settlement than any other institution” according to one later report while another said that “ practically everything [that] can be desired for general recreation or social purposes has been built within the last ten years” including such amenities as a swimming pool and tennis courts that were added after World War II when Sunnyside became home to Boeing airframe production facilities (the original Boeing Field). After experiencing rapid growth in recent decades due largely to annexation by neighboring Bellevue following an decision by then-mayor Norm Stamper in 2006, Sunnyside voters passed Initiative 502 creating its own school district with six elementary schools (grades PK-12) (+ two high school students), one middle school (grades 5-8), one technical/vocational high school (9-12), five small businesses/housing developments called "Enderprises", plus four parks: Messiah Lake Park (), Maple Lakes Park (), Issaquah Highlands Park (), and Northgate Open Space (). The total enrollment now stands at nearly 2,000 pupils across eight elementary schools (PK-12) + twelveMiddle Schools (5-8), eighteenTechnical/ Vocational High Schools (9-12), twentyfiveCommunity Centers () - all affiliated with Seattle Public Schools - thirtyone open space acres () , encompassing seventeen parklands (). Currently SUNNYSIDE & BELlevue ARE TWO SIDES OF THE SAME COAST
