In 1907, Harry Sloan donated land for a public school system which would serve all of King County. At that time there were only 6 schools in King County and Sunnyside's donation gave rise to what would become one of Seattle's most popular tourist attractions - the Evergreen School Park today known as Sloan Park - across from Sunnyside High School. In 1927 Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen moved his family from Bothell into an old farmhouse on NE 145th Street and within two years had developed what would become Microsoft’s main campus – now part of downtown Redmond – on adjacent land he had donated also given away for school purposes. In 1923–1924 Ala Moana Electric Railway Station (later renamed Boeing Field) opened at SE 90th Avenue & SW Mona Passage Blvd., just northeast of present day Microsoft Campus; it served as both an electric streetcar stop and switchyard for Tacoma Electric Railway Co.'s monopoly transit service between Tacoma and Bellevue via Edmonds Peninsula Line (now Light Rail). When Boeing Company leased Edmonds Peninsula Line right-of-way in 1929 they relocated their operations back to Everett with Boeing Field continuing operation as an airport until World War II while Everett became home to Republic Airport which handled commercial air traffic until 1941 when it closed due to military expansion at Boeing Field along with other Puget Sound airports during WWII including SeaTac Airport near SeaTac Village; Sawmill Point Naval Shipyard facilities nowadjacent Community College Eastside Campus serving ground troops deploying overseas during WWII before closing again after 1945 What followed were some of the earliest suburban developments around Puget Sound with homes being built throughout what is nowSunny Side Highway/Lake Washington Boulevard corridor starting out close together along Tripp Road passing Pioneer Square before spreading out slowly but surely becoming more elaborate over time culminating with large single family homes lining both sides of Sunrise Highway/Lake Washington Boulevard

Sunnyside is a census-designated place in Unincorporated Washington County, located on the east side of the Cascades National Park. As of the 2010 census, Sunnyside had a population of 343. The first permanent settler was George Hargrave, who arrived in 1819 and homesteaded near present-day Sunnyside. The name "Sunnyside" was given to the location by General John Wall after his army liberated Seattle from British forces during the Battle of Seattle in 1841. In 1847, Wm. Muhlenberg built a log cabin on what is now Main Street. John Geddes purchased land at what is now Sunnyside Boulevard and development began around this time with stores and homes being built along both sides of the street. In 1862, Major James Armstrong erected an artillery battery at present-day Main Street for use in defending against Native Americans who occupied parts of Washington County during the American Civil War. The battery was later renamed Battery Beale after Captain William Beale (1811–1892), an officer with Confederate forces during the war who served as superintendent of Indian Affairs for Washington County from 1865 to 1870. During World War II, Sunnyside played host to two airfields used by United States Air Force pilots training before their deployment to support Allied forces in Europe: San Francisco Airport and Empire Field #1 on Mount Rainier National Park's eastern slopes; Empire Field #2 on Mt St Helens National Park's southern slopes; and Clark Field #5 on Vancouver Island Airport north of Victoria city limits serving as training grounds for RAF Bomber Command crews operating from bases across Canada until late 1945 when all flying operations were moved to RAF Mildenhall; these sites are now part of King George Sound Regional District . following World War II, many small businesses closed down due to inflationary effects caused by wartime military spending which also included high levels of deportations/erasure efforts targeting minority groups such as Japanese Americans living within US borders - making Sunnyside one OFHEO community where over half a century has passed without any major redevelopment or recent changes taking place

The neighborhood became fashionable and popular with well-to-do citizens due to its close proximity to the White House and other government buildings. The population of Sunnyside peaked in 1910 at 24,000 residents. However, by 1920 it had shrunk to 10,000 residents because of increased opposition to zoning laws enacted in Sunnyside's favor due to their exclusive use for high-end residences. By 1930 Sunnyside had only 6,500 residents remaining; it gradually declined until it ceased being a census-designated place (CDP) in 1970.
