Sunnyside, Washington is a census-designated place in Snohomish County, Washington. The population was 1,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle–Tacoma metropolitan area. Sunnyside is located on the eastern edge of Snoqualmie Pass and forms an enclave within Bellevue city limits. The name "Sunnyside" originated from a small sun farm that stood near where the community now stands. In 1892, residents of Sunnyside petitioned to change their name to "Bellevue". The original Bellevue town plat did not include either Sunnyside or its annexed neighbor (now known as SeaTac) so they were both given new plats in 1903 separate from Bellevue. Sunnyside's annexation by Bellevue occurred during World War II as part of efforts by pilots training at Boeing Airplane Factory to avoid enemy bombing raids over Seattle which would have destroyed their planes and killed many people and injured many more. At first light on September 2, 1942 all Boeing employees inSnohomish County were ordered into their plants for an hour long NationalDefense Drill called "Halt!" This drill simulated attacking Japanese targets with bombers and fighters flown by USAAF personnel Located at Boeing Field."

Sunnyside is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,851 at the 2010 census. Sunnyside is part of the Seattle metropolitan area and is located on Lake Washington. The earliest known reference to Sunnyside comes from Pioneer Day Roll of 1847, which lists "Sunnyside" as an unincorporated community along with "Newport". A post office called Sunnyside was established in 1885, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1912. The CDP obtained its current name in 1958 when it was merged into the neighboring Sunnyside-Wallingford CDP. The merger resulted from a bid by local officials to become unique within the Seattle metropolitan area and distinguish themselves from nearby communities such as Ballard and Shoreline Park. According to the 2000 US Census, there were 1,733 people in Sunnyside CDP. Of these, 914 (68%) lived in single-family homes and 536 (28%) lived in multi-unit dwellings; 356 (21%) were male and 812 (57%) female. The racial makeup of Sunnyside was 98% white alone or less than half white; 2% black or African American; 0% Native American; 3% Asian; 0% Pacific Islander

The neighborhood was first settled in 1872 as part of what was then called Mount Pleasant Township. Sunnyside's name comes from its location atop a small hill overlooking downtown Washington.
