When the first Europeans arrived in Spokane, they were seeking to find a new land. They did not know that this area was home to many different cultures and languages. The local Indians knew about white people, but they did not know about the Europeans. Some of these natives learned about the Europeans through their own stories or heard them from others. Eventually, some of the Indians decided that the European newcomers were strange and dangerous. So, they hid their weapons and property from these strangers. Over time, some of the Native Americans started to learn about edged tools and how to use them for hunting and fishing. They also began to learn about farming methods and how to grow crops. This information helped them become better able to resist European invaders. Even though it took some time for these natives to become proficient in using knives, eventually they became well-known knife experts in their own right. Eventually, European explorers arrived in Spokane looking for new land to explore. One of these men was Pierre Dorion who decided to settle in this area because he saw potential for agriculture here. Dorion's initial interest was grazing his animals on Indian territory, but he soon realized that there were much more opportunities for him here than there! He founded what is now Spokane in 1792 as a trading post on the newly-discovered Puget Sound region of North America

As a result, all municipalities within territorial jurisdiction received official status from May 1st 1909 onward regardless of whether they had applied for it or not . This municipal status allowed them greater independence than any other incorporated municipality in Washington Territory at that time . The exception being Tacoma which formed its own municipality less than two years later In 1916–17, during World War I there was heavy bombing raids against Spokane which resulted in damage to many homes and businesses including the old Post Office building . Although no lives were lost as a direct result of these raids - nor did anything serious happen at our local level due to air raid precautions - public sentiment changed quickly following hostilities ended and fear returned home After Prohibition ended

The name "Spokane" is derived from 1847 when George Armstrong Custer and his men were on their way to fight at the Battle of Little Bighorn and encountered a Sioux band near what is now the town of Spokane. The first European to visit what is now Spokane was Father Pierre-Jean De La Salle in 1792. In 1811, the Discoveries Expedition under Ulysses S. Grant exploredthe Northwest Territories including present-day Spokane County. In 1872, Spokane became the seat of county government for all Kingfishers County except that portion east of Oak Harbor which became part of Chelan County in 1898. On July 10, 1907, as Oregon's Second District Representative in Congress since 1903 (after incumbent Joseph Foraker), Everett Knecht replaced Charles Wickersham who had been termlimited and resigned due to health problems caused by alcoholism. On November 3, 1907 he was elected back into office with 56% of the vote against Johnston's 44%. He served until his death on January 6th 1964 after fourteen years in office; Everett Knecht was buried at Mount Zion Cemetery there until his death on October 15th 1987.
