Gun magazines have been around since the 1800’s. In Spokane, Washington, they started gigging in the early 1900’s. That was when local gunsmiths would start making their own magazines specifically for handguns and rifles. They were also doing this to help keep thesetools and guns inventoryable and organized. The first Gun Mags company in Spokane was started by two brothers named Edwin Burleson and Harry Botkin in 1907. The first Gun Magazines Company printed its magazines out of a rented office on 9th Street NE in Spokane. This company did a lot to promote firearms safety, education, and responsible use of weapons. It also helped to stabilize the handgun market in America during that time period. In 1934, the Gun Magazines Company merged with National Firearms Industries (NFI). This merger made NFI one of the largest firearms manufacturers in the world at that time-with over 150 employees manufacturing products for more than 100 different countries! NRA members enjoyed exclusive access to thesemanufacturers’ products until 1978 when NRA decided to no longer sell direct to consumers!

Spokane, Washington is a city in Spokane County, Washington, United States. The population was 586 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat of Spokane County. It is bordered by the Yakima River to the north and east, the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs to the south and west, and Oregon to the northwest. The first European settler in what is now Spokane was James McNiven in 1853. Spokanee Creek was named for him. In 1863, General Ulysses S Grant visited Spokane while on his way to battle Vicksburg and found it an attractive place with good water supplies available for irrigation. He recommended that Congress create a military post here as part of Army of Northern Virginia under General Robert E. Lee's command; this post became Fort Defiance in 1865. After battles at Gettysburg and Bull Run (1865), Fort Defiance proved too strong for Confederate forces led by Jubal Early and he abandoned it early in 1866; however, local residents pushed back against abandonment until they collected enough materials to build another fort nearby which became Battle Mountain National Monument in 1935. In 1895, when Spokane’s original railroad reached town from Seattle through Rural Hall Township, passengers disembarked at “the old Terminal Station” on First Avenue North near Superior Street but no train ever stopped there because no tracks existed then nor do they anymore – passenger trains terminated just short of today’s intersection of I-5 South and First Avenue North near Eastern Market Square Shopping Center! A new terminal station was built about 1915 across First Avenue North from where today’s shopping center stands – still known locally as “Old Terminal Station”! Passenger trains continued past this point until 1959 when trackage rights were sold along I-5 South becoming part of Interstate 5

George Costigan and his party of three men set out from the British colony of Columbia for a journey that would take them all the way to North America. The costigan party was greeted by Chief Seattle and other local chiefs who offered them shelter and food until they could find their way back home. The first permanent settler in Spokane was James McLoughlin, who built a log cabin on the east side of what is now Maple Street in 1812. He also founded the town of Spokanesville to house his settlers. In 1819, he moved his settlement further west to what is today the downtown area after acquiring land from the federal government for that purpose. For many years following its founding, Spokane was known as "the most populous town on the continent." Spokane's growth continued through various waves of arrivals during its early history; however, it reached its peak during World War II when it became one of America's leading production centers for munitions. The war also saw an increase in population due to military stationed here or search-and-rescue operations conducted during wartime settlements such as Stanley Park which grew rapidly around Chinook Bayou between 1945-1950 due to overflow from nearby Tacoma Naval Shipyards and Boeing Aircraft plants at nearby Renton Army Air Field
