Today's economy is based largely on agriculture but also includes services such as health care (through Kaiser Permanente), retail commerce ( statewide stores including Safeway/Albertsons/Walmart etc.), manufacturing (especially aluminum cans), transportation services (interstate highways 99W-97W provide access to many parts of eastern Washington) and tourism which helps support local businesses while providing visitor attractions like White Water Canyon Resort & Spa and Empire State Park

The Spokane Valley is a valley located in the eastern portion of Washington state. The valley is bordered by the Kittitas Mountains to the east, and the Cascades to the west. The valley was first settled by Indian tribes which lived there until after white people arrived in what is now Washington state in 1792. In 1851, Spokane Valley was incorporated as a town within Wenatchee County. In 1909, Wenatchee County was merged into King County and Spokane Valley became part of that county.
