Beginning around 1919, many individuals began purchasing airguns as personal firearms because they saw an opportunity to enjoy hunting small game such as squirrels and rats with ease and at a fraction of the cost of traditional shotguns or rifles. As more people became interested in usingairguns for their own personal pleasure, competition among these owners increased significantly. By 1922,Gun Owners’ Association had organized several rifle ranges across town which allowed members to fire unlimited rounds per hour at targets located within easy range ( typically 30 yards). These ranges soon became known as “The Shooting Fields” due to their ability to accommodate large groups of shooters from all over town who would come together each weekend for contests and fun days out shooting various types of small game birds including rabbits, squirrels etc.. Although gun rights advocates protested strenuously against this NRA sponsored hunting activity on public lands near downtown Warsaw Falls- many citizens saw nothing wrong with having access to handguns for self-defense on their own property while enjoying some quality shotgunning outside on winter days… These so called " Shooting Fields" continued operations until 1942 when they were destroyed by fire
