Shoreline, Washington is a town located on the Puget Sound in King County, Washington. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. It is home to Seattle Seahawks and Sounders FC soccer teams as well as a number of shooting ranges. Shoreline's history with target shooting goes back to 1875 when a man named George Smeaton started making targets out of spare pieces of wood he found along the shoreline. Sixty years later, his son-in-law John Aiken started selling target holders from his store in town. By 1925, Aiken had built a large factory in town and began making their own targets and holders. During the 1990s and 2000s there was significant development around Shoreline including several high-rise buildings and apartment complexes; this contributed toArea's declining population over time as residents moved away for jobs or other opportunities closer to urban areas. However, recent growth has brought new life to the small town with many businesses opening up within walking distance of each other as well as more recreational activities available such as hiking/biking/swimming etc., giving hope that Shoreline may experience continued growth into the future

In 1870, John Denny founded what would become Redmond (later Bellevue) on land that he had purchase from Chief Seattle nearpresent-day Issaquah. Denny named his new town after himself: "Redmond". In 1912, Microsoft Inc.'s chief executive officer Bill Gates moved from downtownSeattle to Redmond where he started working as an intern for Paul Allen's company before becoming CEO in 1975. Gates left Microsoft in 2000 and removed himself from operational control of the company but remains honorary chairman Emeritus; Redmond still uses his initials MSFT when referring to Microsoft headquarters there today
The Puget Sound area around Seattle was first settled by the Duwamish and Suquamish in the late 1700s. The first Europeans to visit the area were Spanish explorers, who sighted a small island near present-day Seattle on May 5, 1792. The next year, Captain James Cook arrived at Seattle with his Discovery Expedition and named the island Duwamish because of its resemblance to a large white clam. In 1846, when Territorial Congress created King County as part of Washington Territory, land north of Elliott Bay was included within it. On July 26, 1851, this land was organized into what is now King County. Seattle's growth began during the 1850s as an agricultural center due to its location at the mouth of Lake Union and its easy access to goods from Asia and other parts of the world. The city's population reached 100,000 by 1860 but grew rapidly thereafter thanks in part to immigrants such as Chinese laborers who came during gold rushes in that decade. In 1889, Seattle became one of America's largest cities when it amalgamated with Tacoma and Bellevue. That same year saw another major growth trend: construction of new stadiums for baseball and football which helped boost those sports' popularity in what is today known as "Seattle Seahawks" culture brand.
