During their travels, they picked up shotguns and other firearms which they took back home with them and began using them against Spanish forces. This action helped contribute to American victory over Spain at the Battle of Bunker Hill in 1797. Shoreline, Washington is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 5,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle–Tacoma Metropolitan Area. Shoreline was first settled in 1853 and incorporated as a town on December 12, 1907. On February 14, 1959, Shoreline became an unincorporated community when it passed through annexation by SeaTac Airport. On November 30, 2000, the airport announced that it would close its doors for good and all operations would be discontinued within two years. However, due to public outcry and the airport's dire financial situation these plans were scrapped and all operations will continue until at least 2021. The city of Shoreline has been working hard to revive the economy of their small town which is now home to about 1,500 residents with many new businesses based in Shoreline proper as well as some larger businesses that have relocated from elsewhere in King County
