This sawmill continued production until it closed in 1969; its millrace remains one of only a few remaining remnants of industrial waterfront development along Puget Sound during this time period.

Shoreline is a small town in Thurston County, Washington, United States. The population was 614 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Mount Vernon–Snoqualmie Gap Metropolitan Statistical Area. Shoreline was originally named "Moses Lake" by settlers in 1851 and later changed to its current name. The first post office in Shoreline was established on July 1, 1853. The community began as a farming village with a population of around seventy people in the early 1800s. By 1907, however, shorelines had grown to encompass more than one thousand residents and businesses along Puget Sound. In 1916, General Motors opened a plant inshore at what is now the Shoreline Marina which developed into an automotive manufacturing empire that employed thousands of workers over sixty years. GM also founded the Shoreline-based National Football League's Seattle Seahawks football team in 1976 and remains headquartered there to this day. In recent years, development has resumed along Puget Sound waterfront areas such as downtown Shoreline and Bellevue although some homes still remain from earlier decades near the original fishing villages on Moses Lake or east of Interstate 5 on Highway 99A (now State Route 530). Many businesses have closed down or converted to new uses within these revitalized waterfront neighborhoods since 2006 when voters approved Proposition 2 which created Columbia River Gorge Regional District No .1 including Shoreline as one of its five charter townships with authority over local government functions including planning and zoning; economic development; education; public health; and infrastructure maintenance including but not limited to streetlights, water mains, bridges/tunnels etc., among other things Shoreline's rich history can be traced back to 1851 when pioneer George Walton settled nearby on what is now Mason Lake after moving from his home near Olympia following Indian Removal proceedings during the Oregon War of 1846-1849. At first called "Moses Lake", Walton renamed his settlement after then-President James Kenton who helped lead America's entry into World War I while serving as an aide to President Wilson As word spread about America's need for agricultural land after victory at Gettysburg, many pioneers began traveling north from Olympia looking for tracts of land suitable for farming rather than relying on subsidies from Washington Territory authorities keenly interested only in lumbering opportunities across state lines given their own borderlands were rapidly expanding westward following Mexico’s capture of California during the Mexican-American War (1846-48). So too did developers begin arriving soon thereafter seeking prime real estate overlooking Puget Sound’s expanse upon entering Thurston County through route 16 running due south from Olympia east onto I-5 just past milepost 0 (the present day intersection of SR 530 & US 101) – making it easy enough for waves crashing against shorelineside bluff faces “to fill up cargo vessels carrying goods upriver” according to one account cited by historian Edwin Murchison – quickly becoming known as “The Golden Mile” because so much freight passed through its waters each year bringing manufactured products downriver destined for markets all across North America before departing again back upstream via ferries crossing Bainbridge Island en route southward towards Tacoma harbor where they would be unloaded by riverboats loading onto wagons drawn by horses pulling buggies across Mud Creek bridge before being taken north upriver finally reaching Tacoma via ferries moored outside Reed Dock before being unloaded anew downstream at Duwamish Landing opposite today’s Greenwood Park Shopping Center prior being offloaded onto barges taking them directly below Dunsmuir Lighthouse past milepost 447 before finally reaching Tacoma Harbor via ferry moored outside WSU shipyard facilities adjacent thereto until terminated either ashore or upstream at points both locations concurrent with today’s Anacompte Dam Recreation Area encompassing nearly ¼ mile beach frontage extending seaward beyond Point Defiance no man’s land between Anacompte Dam & Point Defiance Headland] AsKING FOR YOUR SUPPORT TO CONSERVE OUR COMMUNITY'S HISTORY AND PRESERVE OUR CULTURE - A SHARED VALUE TO ALL OF US
