Shoreline is a town in King County, Washington, United States. It was founded in 1879 by Captain George Vancouver and his wife Hannah. The population was 3,497 at the 2010 census. The town is located on the Olympic Peninsula between Seattle and Shoreline Village. It is bordered to the east by Lynnwood, to the north by Puyallup, and to the west by Bellevue. According to local legend, when Captain Vancouver saw what he thought was a beautiful island in Puget Sound he decided to name it Shoreline after himself. The first Post Office opened in 1881. In 1911, Shoreline became an incorporated town with a population of 4,534 inhabitants. In 1954, Congress passed the Magnuson-Moss Act which created Umatilla National Forest within King County; Shoreline became part of that forest as well as Puyallup and Lynnwood municipalities within King County proper. That same year also saw the opening of Washington State Route 129 (SHR 129) from Everett through Goldendale and Nisqually into Shoreline Village; this route later became SR 99 when Port of Morrow closed down in 1999 due to federal funding cuts

In 1912, voters passed a resolution declaring themselves 'an independent city', which helped make shorelines an attractive place for businesses and residents. In 1915, when King County voters approved annexation into Seattle, Shoreline voted to remain an unincorporated community. However, it soon became clear that incorporation would be necessary for business purposes - businesses wanted to be able to get tax breaks and benefits from city government. On November 3rd, 1922, after two years of debate and vote-miscueing, incorporation finally occurred as part of what is now called Seattle –King County (the merger happened in 1923). During World War II, Shoreline played an important role as a munitions plant due to its close proximity to Boeing Field on Mercer Island. The plant produced bombs during both World Wars while also manufacturing items such as shoes for troops overseas. After the war ended there were few jobs available so many people leftshoreline looking for new opportunities but some returned home over time creating more businesses .Today many people live near or within walking distance of their work or school

The area now known as Washington was part of Canada until 1871, when it became a US territory. The first permanent European settlers in what is now Washington arrived in 1847, when John C.
