Shoreline, Washington is a city of about 60,000 people on the Olympic Peninsula in Northwest Washington. The city is located on the Pacific Ocean and owes its start to the fur trade. In 1855, the first post office was established in Shoreline. In 1886, an act of Congress designated the area around Shoreline as a national rifle range. The name "Shoreline" was chosen because it sounded like a sound that could be heard from shorelines all along Puget Sound. The Shoreline Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1919. The club began meeting at the old Masonic Temple on Fourth Street in Shoreline. In 1922, the club moved to the former Air Depot on Ninth Street in Shoreline. In 1929, the club moved again, this time to its current location at 7808 15th Avenue S in Shoreline.
