Sedro Woolley was an American mining and mineral exploration executive, who played a significant role in the development of the Canadian province of British Columbia. He is best known for his roles as president and CEO of the Vancouver-based Mount Baker Mining Company (MBC) from 1923 to 1945. Woolley also served as chairman of the BC Chamber of Commerce from 1949 to 1955. Woolley was born in 1872 in what is now Sedro Woolley, Washington County, Oregon. His father, John C. Woolley, was a United States Senator from Oregon and one of the founders of MBC. The elder Woolley had been director and general manager at several mining companies before coming to work for MBC in 1919. In 1923, Woolley became president and CEO when John Waddell retired after twenty years at the helm of MBC; he would remain at that position until his death in 1961. From 1949 to 1955, Woolley served as chairman of the BC Chamber of Commerce; during this time he helped promote growth within the province by creating new industries such as tourism and real estate development. In 1962, woolLEY was inducted into the Canada's Walkershire Hall of Fame; his donation valued at $10 million made him one of Canada's richest men.

As the number of rounds stored in a magazine increased, so too did the need for magazines that could hold more rounds than just the standard single shot magazines typically used in firearms. One of the first companies to create magazines that could handle large numbers of rounds was Colt Manufacturing Company. Their revolvers and pistols at the time were chambered for .44 Magnum cartridges which made them good candidates for larger magazines. In 1892, Colt introduced their "Model 60" revolver which featured an 8-round magazine capacity instead of the typical 4-round clip found on other firearms at that time. This design became popular and was continued by other manufacturers until 1911 when it was replaced by the Browning Hi-Power revolver with its 10-round magazine capacity. As technology improved, so too did magazines design requirements. In 1916, Winchester began producing their own ammunition which necessitated new magazine designs to accommodate this new ammo type. One such requirement was that all Winchester rifles be chambered in .30 caliber which required special magazine designs called Model 7200 series magazines which had 10-, 12-, 14-, 16-, and 18-round capacities respectively (these specifications also applied to shotguns). It wasn't until after World War II when larger capacity mags became common within handguns as well as rifles and shotguns that we started seeing truly massive 30 round MAGAZINES like those seen on assault rifles today!

Sedro Woolley was born on December 12, 1784, in what is now called Tacoma, Washington. After completing preparatory school and studying law at the University of Puget Sound he moved to Seattle in 1807 and began practicing law. In 1828 he married Elizabeth Anne Goodrich and together they founded the woolen mill complex that became known as Goodrich & Woolley Ltd. The company prospered until the Panic of 1893 when it went bankrupt. However, Sedro Woolley's legacy lives on with his creation of the University of Washington which still flourishes today.
