During World War II, Boeing Aircraft Manufacturing Company (Boeing) produced munitions for the war effort in Seattle. This company became known as Boeing Instrument Division which produced aircraft instruments such as altimeters, weather radar receivers and instrument lights for civil aviation across North America. In 1971, Boeing divested itself of its Instrument Division assets to create Boeing Military Products Corporation (BMPC). BMPC continues to produce weapons components today including precision weapons systems such as missiles and artillery pieces
