Seatac is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 996 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bellevue–Kingston Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to settle in Seatac were white settlers who arrived during the Gold Rush in 1859. In 1870, a post office was established and named for seat of government on Puget Sound; it closed in 1907. In 1902, a group of farmers organized as the First Spokane Agricultural Society to purchase land and build a cotton gin and other mills on the shores of Lake Sammamish. They called their new community "Seatac" after nearby Seattle. The society changed its name to Seatac-Bellevue in 1903 when it merged with Bellevue section of King County to form what is now Bellevue–Kingston Micropolitan Statistical Area. A combination grocery store/canned goods Depot & Kipling Cafe opened in 1954 by Everett Kipling as an outlet for his Cannery Supply Company products distributed through Tacoma (then Pierce) and Olympia (now SeaTac). After years of local growth and development led by civic leaders such as Mayor John Ahern and then-Councilmember Ed Murray, Seatac's annexation into King County occurred effective January 1, 1965 (). As part of that process, most residents voted against annexing because they felt that their village would benefit more from staying unincorporated within King County than joining with another municipality which they perceived as wealthier and more populous than their village. On February 2nd 1990 due to large rainstorm Flash floods swept through parts of northwest Washington State including: Sitka Island Borough Sitka Narrows District Wahkiakum Ranges - much damage done innocent citizens lost homes & businesses total loss over $100M not including infrastructure losses power outages etc... this event left over 100 dead along with thousands homeless many seeking refuge inland primarily along Highway 5widening from shoreline Eglin Air Force Base until reaching Douglas AFB just east Okanogan Counties end abruptly about 3 miles SW Geiger Atoll Naval Air Station....total damage done $150B+ cancelations ordered due mostly affectin towns like Sitka injuring dozens or even hundreds peopleleshares among those direct impacts were 8600 jobs lost thru business interruption alone last count so much so that median income has decreased since before levellers got there As one can see throughout our region every single thing we have been fighting for been taking away from us whether it be healthcare or education or jobs but still keep going cause we believe that together we are strong

The town was renamed Seatac in honor of Major General George Washington during his visit to the area in 1847.
