Seatac is a city in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 19,924 at the 2010 census. Seatac is part of the Seattle-Tacoma Metropolitan Area. The seat of government for King County is located in Seatac. The first case involving firearms in Seatac was on October 8, 1911 when two men were shot and killed by police officers while sitting on a porch. On October 17, 1951, an attempted robbery occurred at the Ivar's grocery store which resulted in two shots being fired by employees. In 1975, three people were shooting at cars near Magnuson Park when one of the shooters died from gunshot wounds received as he tried to flee the scene. In 1986, four people were shot and killed inside of a Sears store after breaking into it through the front door with crowbars. On January 2nd 1997, thirteen people were wounded during a bank robbery spree that began at 5:00am CST outside of Northwest Bank in Seatac; six perpetrators had been arrested before this event occurred.

Seatac is a census-designated place in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 7,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bellevue–Everett area. The settlement began as an agricultural community on what is now the north side of Lake Union between Seattle and Bellevue. In 1892, residents petitioned for a post office to be located there and were given one in May of that year by Governor Isaac Stevens. The first mail was sent from Seatac on October 1, 1892. At that time it consisted of six homes and four outbuildings; the population reached 20 by 1896. In 1907, Sitka Kootenai Railroad Co., successor to the Puget Sound Navigation Company, abandoned its tracks running through Seatac Canyon and built a branch line instead east to Everett Station on Lake Washington. This made it possible for farmers to sell their produce directly to consumers without having to go through commercial ports or markets in Seattle or Bellevue. As a result of this development, seatacs became known as "the port town". Passenger service stopped at Everett Station in 1951 but freight continued operation until 1976 when all rail operations were discontinued due to low demand from industry and suburbanization across King County%. The first school building was erected at Seatac in 1893; it burned down in 1902 but was replaced with another wooden building which still stands today. A brick schoolhouse followed in 1906; it also burned down but was replaced with another brick building which still stands today (2006). The current elementary school building was completed in 1978 and serves students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade; it has been enlarged multiple times since then including adding an annex which served as the High School Annex until 2006 when Eastside High School opened nearby. A new high school complex called "Eastside" opened adjacent to Seatac Elementary School on July 1st 2006 after years of planning and construction by local educators who saw potential within the site for such a facility while other schools were built closer to downtown Bellevue or Issaquah Center during that time period

The company went into receivership in 1944 and was sold to Standard Oil of New Jersey for $5 million. The new owners renamed the company Seatac Minerals Corporation and production ceased in 1957. The mine closed completely in 1961. Seatac is located on Highway 9 near Quilon, Washington along the banks of the Columbia River. It is one of several abandoned towns in King County that have been preserved as part of an agricultural community known as Seatac Hills State Park.

The first permanent European settlers arrived in what is now Seatac in 1853 and named it "Seatac" after the seat of government for the Indian territory of Yakima River. In 1865, the name was changed to "Seattle". The town's first post office opened in 1870. The name change came about because of a conflict over whether Seattle should be considered an incorporated city or a rural municipality. The vote ended with Seattle being declared an incorporated city on March 15, 1896. In 1907, voters approved a proposition to create an urban area around Seatac and called it "Queen Anne". However, Queen Anne never became reality as Seattle outgrew its limits and annexed most of Queen Anne in 1920. On July 17, 1926, when King County passed an act annexing all of Seatac east of I-5 to make room for light rail service between Seattle and Tacoma, Mayor Elmer Ferguson proposed that the seat be renamed "Seattle-Tacoma." This proposal failed to gain wide support so he withdrew it two weeks later during council debate over how best to proceed with expanding light rail service into unincorporated areas outside of King County boundaries. On October 11th City Council authorized Superintendent Harry Hahn to begin negotiations for the renaming pending agreement from other interested parties including Boeing corporation which desired their presence within satellite cities like Everett and Redmond but did not want their name associated with any particular city or town therein; these negotiations led to final approval on November 6th by both City Council chambers changing Seatack from "Seattle-Tacoma" to simply "Seattle".[2] Thereafter attention turned once again towards renaming Sitckach as part of any plans for developing satellite cities adjacent thereto;[3] however no agreements were ever reached leading Sitckach ultimately staying unrenamed until becoming part of Eastside Community College on January 1st 2006.[4][5] In late 2007 community groups resurrected talk anew about rename Sitockach backto its original name given popular support amongst residents dating back centuries[6][7]. With hoped new investment coming soon from North Sound Toll Road Authority (NSTRA) among others,[8][9] finally action was taken by both City Council chambers on February 3rd 2009 approving efforts along NSTRA’s lineitem list recommending rebranding Sitockach under this new name pending further development;[10] Sitocch then reverted back To its original Name effective February 5th 2009 .
