Seatac is a census-designated place in Thurston County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,873 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. Seatac was founded in 1875 as a small town on the banks of the Snake River. The community grew rapidly after it became connected to Seattle by rail and highway. In 1978, Seatac merged with nearby Kent and had its first annexation into Seattle proper in 1980. The population shrank after this merger but has since increased due to↑ suburban development along Interstate 5 and expansions of Publix Super Markets and Microsoft's Redmond campus within the past few decades. The name "Seatac" comes from an Arikara word meaning "small stream". The first settler here was George Seattie, who arrived in 1875 from Oregon and named his new town Seatac after his friend John Wesley Hudson's ranch near present-day Olympia Fields, Kansas. Sitka Peak (now Mount Baker) served as the community's landmark until 1890 when it was destroyed by a fire that also burned down parts of Kent and Yelm neighbourhoods; all that remained were some foundations and a few trees remaining today. In 1978, Seatac merged with neighboring Kent to form one large city with over 1,000 residents; this move created more jobs for everyone living there than had ever been seen before within Thurston County! After this merge came growth in business & retail sectors as well as residential development taking place throughout downtown areas such as Northgate Square & Lake Union which are now home to some of Seattle’s most popular destinations like Starbucks & Amazon HQ2! With continued growth potential coming soon from both developers & entrepreneurs alike on both sides of Swan Lake Boulevard we can only expect more amazing things for our city come 2030!

Seatac was a small town in the state of Washington prior to the arrival of the railroad. The first railway reached Seatac in 1885, and by 1907 it had become a key junction for trains traveling between Seattle and Portland. In 1912, after the completion of the Canadian Pacific Railway, Seatac became an important center for shipping goods along that railroad. It also became an important manufacturing center during this time, with local businesses producing parts for cars and other vehicles used on the railway. By 1945, however, Seatac's economy had collapsed due to competition from larger towns in neighboring counties. Its residents were forced to leave their homes and move into Dillon County where they continued to live until 1966 when they finally moved back to their original location within the town limits. The history of Seatac is significant not only because it was a key station on one of America's first railways but also because it has been home to numerous notable people including some who have helped shape American culture. Included among these are two governors of Washington - George Stevens (1934-1941) and Roy Blunt (1987-1991). Additionally, many members of Congress have come from or have resided in Seatac over time; such as Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska), Rep. Wally Herger (R-Oregon), and Sen. Patty Murray (D-Washington).
Seatac was an airport in Washington, D.C., which served as the primary airport for American Airlines and its subsidiary Pan Am Airways until 1923. The airport was located on the edge of downtown Washington, between Pennsylvania Avenue and First Street NW. It had two terminals: a large main terminal with more than 12,000 square feet (1,500 m2) of floor space, and an annex with about 3,000 square feet (190 m2). The original building that served as Seatac's main terminal was designed by architects Arthur L. Lapham and Harry Weisman in 1913. It was replaced by a new terminal built in 1961–1962 using a similar design but with larger passenger areas. The original annex became an administrative office building used by American Airlines until it merged into Pan Am Airways in 1978; it then became the headquarters for both airlines before being sold to Northwest Airlines in 2002.
