The area around present day Seatac had been inhabited for thousands of years before European settlement began. The first permanent European settler in what is now Seatac was Nicholas Campanile in 1851 who named his land Cape Point after his ship La Découverte which docking at Sitka Bay made landfall on November 11 that year with goods carried by Russian sailors including ivory and fur sealskins. At first Indians lived near Campanile's landing but soon development led them away as land prices rose and more people arrived seeking opportunities for wealth creation outside their traditional hunting grounds In 1902, George Snelling platted a townsite extending out from Seattle across Elliott Bay for $5 per acre (less than 1/4 th of an acre). His rationale was twofold: he needed someone with jurisdiction overSeattle's waterfront because he planned to build ships there; and he wanted other entrepreneurs interested in developing his new town so that they could pool resources for ventures together instead of having each individual invest separately . Snelling quickly realized that he didn't have anyone with him who would develop his townsite so he sold it back toGeorge Elliott Jr., one of Snelling's original investors Elliott boughtSnelling's interest in 1907 Elliott renamed his town 'Seatac'. He came up with the idea because while looking at houses near where he lived on Tacoma Street SE between Fourth Avenue NE & Pine Street NE , he saw advertisements for lots available at Mount Baker Place southeast of downtown Tacoma ."Mount Baker Place", then just off Pierce Road NW near Aberdeen Proving Ground today forms one cornerof what would become known as Northwest Side Neighborhood Park northeast Of downtown Tacoma

The city of Seatac is located in Pierce County, Washington. The population was 3,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. Seatac was founded in 1892 by George Wickersham and his wife Jessie Beattie as a small town on the Red River near its mouth. By 1912, it had become an important shipping point on Puget Sound for agricultural products and lumber from the region. In 1924, Seatac became one of the first cities to be established within the new state of Washington. In 1954, when Interstate 5 was built through downtown Seattle, Seatac was among the first areas to be bypassed and lost its importance as a shipping center and transportation hub. However, over time it has regained some of its former prominence as a commercial district and cultural community with several restaurants, historical buildings, and a popular annual festival known as "Festival at Sea". In 2008–2009, emergency services responded to sulfur dioxide readings above levels deemed safe for humans in most of Seattle after an industrial accident took place in nearby Lake Union that day; this event helped revive interest in Seatac as a commercial center again. Today's seatac is home to several businesses that have been around since before Interstate 5 bypassed it: Boeing Aircraft Co., Microsoft Corporation (from 1971-2002), Starbucks Coffee Company (1992-2013), KFC International (from 1978-2012), Amazon Web Services Inc., SEATAC Federal Credit Union (2005-present).
The first people to reside in the area that is now Seatac were the Pembina Sioux. The area was first inhabited by the local Canis Major Tribe and then the Bidwell Band of Indians. In 1851, the United States Congress passed a bill creating Washington Territory, which included what is now Seatac. On November 16, 1853, Pierre Elliott Trudeau was elected as the first Prime Minister of Canada and on December 4, 1854 he became the first Canadian Prime Minister to visit Washington D.C.. The U.S. Capitol Building was completed in 1795 and it served as both a federal government office building and home to Congress until its destruction in 1865 by fire. The current Capitol Building was built between 1929-1933 and it is also notable for being one of only two buildings in America designed by Structural Engineer Harry Blackman when he was employed at Skidmore & Owings & Merrill LLP during this time period.
