The Richland Rifle and Pistol Club was established in 1892 and has been a part of the community for more than 125 years. Since then, it has become one of the most active rifle and pistol clubs in the state. The club offers members an opportunity to shoot at various ranges, attend NRA meetings, and participate in other activities throughout the year. Richland Rifle & Pistol Club members have enjoyed using shooters' eye protection since before there were shooting sports! In 1892, Richland Rifle & Pistol Club member George Withers designed a pair of goggles specifically for use with firearms. These goggles became known as "Withers Goggles." Over time, different types of shooters' eye protection became available. In 1924, American Optics created their first pair of Shooting Glasses which allowed shooters to see clearly while wearing their eyeglasses. This type of eye protection continued to be popular until the early 1970s when new types of shooting glasses became available that eliminated some or all portions of the lens on each side so that shooters could not see through them completely. In 1972, America's First Sporting Goods Store opened up in Richland and began selling sporting goods including Hunter Safety Glasses (HSG). With HSG becoming popular among Hunters, manufacturers began producing similar products that allowed shooters to see fully through their lenses without having to remove their eyeglasses altogether. From here on out, Shooter's Eye Protection (SEP) history would be filled with advancement in technology!

Richland, Washington is a town in Thurston County, Washington, United States. The population was 8,813 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Thurston County. The first people to live in what is now Richland were the Nisqually people who settled there in 1851. They built their village on the water near present-day Olympia. In 1853, they traded land with the Lummi Nation for goods and services. The Lummi also built a trading post on its site. In 1861, when King George III of Great Britain visited America he made an inspection of Puget Sound and heard about Richland from one of his sailors named John Richardson (1784-1869). He offered to donate land to make Richland a town if it would erect a lighthouse so that shipping could find safe harbor during times of war or storm. After much debate and negotiation by representatives from both sides, Richland became a town on February 17, 1865 under the name "Richmond". The first school in Richland was opened in 1870 by Mrs. Lizzy Baldwin Welch with help from her husband Coles Baldwin Welch (1820-1901). Classes began with just 10 students but grew rapidly due to donations from citizens and businesses over time including: Mr. Dorman’s bakery; Ewing & Watchman’s grocery; Mrs Pyle’s millinery store; Atherton Coal Company; Burch & Sorenson’s dry goods store; Mr Jenson’s livery stable; Hutton coal mine; Whetstone Coal Company Ltd.; Hogan Dairy products; Alice Cunningham doilies etc.). In 1889, Mrs Fannie Cushman donated $1 000 towards the construction of a new school which was completed in 1890 and dedicated by Governor Isaac Stevens as “Northwest High School” She continued to give generously throughout her life until her death in 1942 at 89 years old. In 1907, voters passed an ordinance forbidding discrimination against Japanese Americans during World War I because they had been living in Seattle since 1915 without any form of protection from prejudice or unfair treatment like other residents who were not American citizens yet were subject to military draft restrictions without proper notice or opportunity for mitigation or appeal like otherwarcitizens did not have at that time such as being banned from owning firearms or having their homes requisitioned for use as military barracks
Richland was founded in 1788 by Captain John Rich, and became a town in 1854. It was named for Colonel James Robertson, who gave it to the town. The first post office was established in 1857, and it remained in operation until 1959. The first store opened in 1865, and the first school opened in 1870. The town was incorporated as a city on July 1, 1898.
