In 1911, the milliken & co. factory was bought out by Winchester Repeating Arms Company and production switched to Winchester Model 1894 shotguns and rifles. In 1929, the milliken & co. factory was sold to Remington Arms Corporation and continued manufacturing firearms until it closed in 1971.
Richland is located in the northwest corner of Washington state and covers an area of over 134 square miles. The population was 7,421 at the 2010 census. It is a small town with a strong military presence, as it is home to the headquarters for the United States Army's Thurston County Military District. A number of small businesses and churches dot Richland's streets, with most residents working in local industries or services that are related to those industries. Although its name may suggest otherwise,Richland does not have any rich soil or natural resources; instead, it relies heavily on irrigation from rivers and reservoirs. The history of Richland dates back before white people arrived in what is now Washington state. The first written record of what is now Richland appears to be from 1810 when Native Americans called it "Wahk'xewa". Wahk'xewa means 'place where water flows abundantly'. At some point during the 19th century, a man by the name of John Cushing came to live in what is now Richland and began developing land around present-day town center. In 1865, he purchased 640 acres (248 hectares) near present-day town center from the Yakama Nation for $640 dollars cash plus 4 horses and 16 bushels (6 kilograms) of flour per acre - this was one of the largest land purchases ever made in Washington State at that time. By 1870, Cushing had renamed his property "Richmond." He continued to develop his land until 1893 when he sold it to JT French who organized what would become Thurston County Agricultural Society which would grow corn and other crops on his property until 1915 when he sold it again to WJ Beier who organized what would become Thurston County High School. Beier served as Superintendent for Thurston County Agricultural Society through 1916 before selling his interest in 1916 to LN Heiderman who organized what became King County High School which graduated its first class in 1923 despite severe budget cuts that year due to World War I efforts by Congress To reduce troop numbers within US war theaters . LN Heiderman also founded both Seattle's First National Bank and Pacific Highway System company which donated money towards building Seattle's Central Bridge across Lake Union while still serving as superintendent at King County High School; he later moved up through management positions at these companies before retiring in 1957 having accomplished more than anyone else during their respective careers within those organizations

Richland is a city in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 10,157 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of King County. The first permanent settler in what would become Richland was Obadiah Morse in 1853. In 1854, John Ladd and his family arrived from Ohio and set up a farm on land that later became part of Richland Township. By 1860, there were 11 families living in Richland Township. In 1863, the Union army destroyed the bridge over the Spokane River near present-day Greenwood to prevent Confederate forces from crossing into Washington Territory during the Second Battle of Bull Run. This event is generally considered to be one of the turning points of the war in Washington Territory and helped lead to Lincoln's victory at Manassas Junction two years later. In 1866, General George McClellan sent an expedition against Chief Joseph as part of his campaign against secessionists throughout Washington Territory. The expedition failed due to lack of support from local residents and McClellan abandoned it after only three days because he realized he could not win any battle without reinforcements which he did not have access to. Thereafter, most settlers wereCentral American refugees who had come westward during El Dorado Canyon gold rush era or prospectors who had discovered rich deposits alongthe Columbia River flood plain north of Yelm before returning home during silver discoveries at those sites in 1872-1876 or following completion of Gold Rush at Sperryville about 25 miles SW Richland on January 14th by Jno Wickersham (1835-1902) . Some Central Americans settled permanently such as José Gomez y Costilla who built a log cabin on lot 3 N Main Street circa 1886 which still stands today except for roofing which has been replaced with asphalt shingle since 2002 There are also some African Americans who immigrated prior to 1880s such as James Ahern (baptized James Alfred Ahern Dec 1st 1865 – dearly departed Jan 15th 1912), William Hargrave (baptized William Harriot Hargrave Oct 8th 1862 – July 16th 1944) and Martin Luther King Jr.(born Aug 12th 1929). Many more immigrants sailed down river arriving either through steamboats or by packet boat between Puget Sound region and Eastern Washington until all but 2% landed onshore; these boats usually carried 100 passengers each insteadloading 400 people onto SS "Olympic" October 1903 when she grounded off Seattle Princess Islands just southof Geyser Island resulting over 150 drownings +/- 30%+ fraction due mostly attributable perished Coast Guard men & their families aboard ship “SS Tacoma” November 9th 1918 about 4500 strong +Men missing overboard with lifejackets & swimming finsattached successfully until located December 7TH 1945 plus Over 1500 artifacts recovered from sunken ships including Texas freighter " Mayflower" August 26TH 1915 . nearly all occupants died save 5 men--one member Of Coast Guard Team attached onboard “SS Tacoma” who swam backto shoresuccessfully attach lifejackets & swimming fins thendisappeared neverto be found again.--Dennis Fife

It grew rapidly during the early years of its establishment, with many people coming to work in the lumber and agriculture industries. In 1862, the First World War began and Richland became one of the largest communities in Washington County. Many residents volunteered their services in various local organizations such as the Salvation Army and American Legion. After the war ended, Richland experienced a period of growth which continued until 1937 when it lost its status as an incorporated city because of budget deficits. From 1937 until 1984, Richland was part of Thurston County.
