Throughout the 1900s and into the 1920s, knife production migrated to Tacoma, WA due to its favorable climate and good steel quality. In 1926, Tacoma began producing its own knives under the name "Tacoma Knife Works". After World War II, Tacoma's industries declined but new Knife Manufacturers such as Smith & Wesson continued to produce high-quality knives throughout most of the 1970s until they closed down in 1980. However, through recent research it has been discovered that several old Tacoma factory buildings still remain vacant and are potential sites for future Knife Manufacturers or Restaurants!

The first European to visit the area, Captain James Cook, made landfall at Vancouver Island on July 14, 1792 with his ship HMS Endeavour. Cook's journey marked the beginning of British Columbia's colonization and trade with Asia. In 1806, Scottish settlers moved into the area and began trading goods with First Nations people. A small logging town called Sandy Point developed near the mouth of the Duwamish River until 1857 when a dredging project connected Vashon Island to Puget Sound. This caused an increase in shipping traffic and led to new development in downtown Renton. In 1886, Renton became part of Seattle under Territorial Govt control.

The name "Renton" comes from the Chumash word Reten (a place). The first Europeans to visit Renton were Dutch traders in 1604. A mission was established here in 1814 by the Franciscans with the same name as Renton Airways today- Saint John's Episcopal Church remains a landmark in town. In 1870, a post office called "Renton" was opened and remained open until 1959. In 1924, when Wacoal Airlines began operations its first passenger service between Seattle and Tacoma, it needed an airport with appropriate runway for its larger planes. The city of Seattle offered to donate land but Wacoal refused because it wanted its own airport away from downtown Seattle on land that would have been difficult to develop without government assistance. Mayor George Norris convinced Wacoal to donate the general aviation runway which now lies adjacent to Renton Airport. In 1957, after more than 50 years of service as an airstrip serving Boeing 707s and Douglas DC-3s operated by numerous airlines including Northwest Airlines and Western Air Transport Company (WAC), Grumman Aviation Services leased airfield rights from Wacoal for use by their new commuter airline Metrojet; this became Grumman West Coast Airlines (GWAA) later renamed Alaska Airlines. As NWA merged into Alaska Airlines shareholding company AlaskanAir Lines Inc., GrummanWestCoast also took over all operating assets of GWAA; this made Grumman one of only two major U.S.-based carriers not wholly owned or controlled by another carrier (the other being Delta Air Lines). When AlaskanAirLines Inc went bankrupt in 2000 Ansaldo Energia assumed control over both AlaskanAirLines Incorporation Fedex Express Ground Transportation services formerly operated by GrummanWestCoast; these services continued until 2006 when they were transferred back toFedex Corporation under a new agreement known as ground transportation agreements between FedEx Corporation and various airports across North America

He named it Puget Sound after his ship, "Puget" which he had discovered near present day Tacoma, Washington. The name Puget Sound likely comes from an early word for "to cut down", "puget" being a word similar to "choose". A ferry service connected Everett with downtown Seattle until 1915 when ferries were discontinued due to competition from autos and buses on Interstate 5. In 1852 Edwin Halsey named two small islands in Lake Union – Ecola Island and Islet No. 2 – after friends John Dickson Carr and George Ellsworth Cushing who had been stranded there during their ill-fated Gold Rush venture on Vancouver Island. These are now known as Ecola Island Naval Air Station (formerly Alaskan Way Air National Guard Base) and Islet No. 2 Naval Air Station (formerly Western Beach Army Camp), respectively. In 1912 construction began on an airport located north of downtown Renton by millionaire entrepreneur Jock Hume Smith; however, Hume's dream died when King County built runways south of downtown instead in order to consolidate air services with Seattle Airport then under construction adjacent to CenturyLink Field%.
