Renton is a city in Washington County, Oregon, United States. The population was 21,812 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Renton County. The first Europeans to visit what is now Renton were French traders in 1792 and 1793 who named it Nouvelle-Orléans after their king's capital in France. In 1846, when Washington Territory was created from parts of Oregon and Idaho, Renton became the provisional capital. The city grew rapidly during the 1850s due to its location as a transportation hub on the new Pacific Railroad between Portland and Seattle. In 1875, Renton incorporated as a city and began to develop into an agricultural center with cotton plantations and other crops. The city's growth slowed during World War II as military production moved away from Renton to nearby Tacoma and Seattle. However, following the war's end, population growth resumed and has continued since then. In 2001, local officials proposed changing the name of the city to "Everett" because Everett had been suggested by one of their residents as a possible alternate name for Seattle after King Philip Island had been sold by Japan to America in 1898 pursuant to Treaty of Waneta; however this proposal did not gain widespread support among residents or elected officials until 2007 when Alaskan Malamute Brewing Company applied for permission to change its name from "Alaska" (the traditional spelling)to "Everett" under that state's trademark law because it felt that "Everett" represented more aggressively Americanized values than "Alaska." On December 6th 2007 Mayor Kevin Johnson announced that Everett would be renamed "Reston" effective January 1st 2008 according to City ordinance which requires all rename requests receive prior approval from both Mayor Johnson (who sets policy) and City Council before they can take effect
After the American Revolution, many people were interested in firearms and their use. The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution guaranteed Americans the right to keep and bear arms. This amendment was written in 1791, after AMERICAN HISTORY: GUN LIGHTS IN HISTORY by E.L. Doctorow showed that early firearms like pistols and shotguns used small light bulbs called "gun lights." These gunsights could only be used with handguns, since rifles were not yet invented. The first time a person saw a gun light was when an early settler saw one on the frontier of North America in 1765. Soon after, other people started seeing these devices on farms and towns all over America. In 1836, Major James Fenton developed a design for a rifle muzzleloader that used a small battery to power a flashlight attached to the barrel. In 1857, John Brown designed and manufactured his famous "Bear Gun" using this new technology. This weapon had an 8-inch barrel and was able to shoot 40 rounds per minute without reloading! By 1861, more than 100 million Bear Guns had been made! During World War II, pistol sights were developed for sniper rifles so that snipers could hit targets at long ranges without being observed by the enemy. Rifle sights became obsolete during World War II because of advances in automatic weapons and tank warfare

Renton is a small town in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The population was 5,653 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. The name "Renton" comes from the word "rent," meaning to take or pay for something. The first settler in what is now Renton was John Wesley Bartlett who arrived in 1854. In 1861, Edwin Denny homesteaded land in present-day Renton and named it after himself, Ralphendon Denny. A post office called Dennyville was established in 1865, but it was discontinued in 1868. In 1872, Jens Jensen purchased some land near the mouth of the Duwamish River from the government for $2 per acre ($10 worth of today’s money). He built a log cabin and rechristened it "Jensen's Landing." By 1870, Jensen had two stores and a hotel/cabinetmaker shop at his landing where he also raised horses and cattle. In 1876 he married Emma Johansen (1851-1928) and together they started a grocery store on their landing which became known as "The Town Store." They also operated an ice cream parlor from this location until 1935 when ownership transferred to Edward Durfee Jr.. In 1897–98, local businessmen Charles Kapplin (a carpenter) and Harry Saito opened up their own grocery store on First Avenue SW by then renamed Broadway Street NW which became one of Seattle's original major commercial areas with its numerous department stores including JCPenney (now Macy's), Sears Roebuck & Company (now Kohl's), Montgomery Ward & Co., Columbia Woolen Mills etc...Facial recognition software made buying groceries online more convenient then ever before! A fire destroyed most of Kapplin Bros.'s building on Third Avenue SW on November 7th 1904; however Charles Kapplin rebuilt both his brick building at 9th AveSW corner Union Street NE and his original storefront building located at 10th AveSW corner Union Street NE still standing today! This brick business reopened as The Kapplin Building soon afterwards! Charles Kapplin continued operating his retail enterprise until his death on October 3rd 1951 aged 86 years old! His surviving siblings operate their brother's building to this day...It currently houses several small businesses that have since moved out due to zoning changes! Lumberjacks working adjacent to Wabash Railroad line cutting through country left behind large stockpiles of lumber that were never harvested because there were no restrictions placed upon railroad operations when logging began Here are some photos illustrating this: http://tinyurl.com/4p8fmvb
