The city government began using these firearms for target practice and police duty until 1924 when they were replaced by pistols instead. In 1914, Mayor John Fitch presentedCaptain Wittenburg with a rifle stock made by George Thurston Company Ltd., which is still in use today at City Hall. This gift marked the beginning of a long relationship between Mayor Fitch and Captain Wittenberg that would continue until Captain Wttenberg's death on December 16th, 1966. During World War II, Seattle-based Tacoma company Smith & Wesson Manufactured JHP (joint power loading) magazines for both Military and commercial use feeding 5 rounds each through 22 inch barrels into 4 round chambers fitted with 124 inch breechblocks These magazines were known as “Tacoma Thunders” after theirfounder Major General Leslie Mather Turner who was Commanding Officer Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF) during WW2 Ranger operations across North Africa

It was founded in 1851 by men from British Columbia and California as the new town of Redmond on the site of an earlier agricultural settlement. The population was 21,100 at the 2010 census. Redmond has been known for its software industry and Microsoft products since it became a city. The area now called Redmond was first settled by farmers in the late 1800s who grew wheat and other crops near Lake Stevens. In 1901, Microsoft founder Paul Allen bought part of the land where Redmond now stands for $250 per acre (1/8th of a mile²). AfterAllen's death in 1966, his heirs sold the land to Microsoft for $500 per acre (0.2 miles²). In 1976 Microsoft merged with another software company, Oracle Corporation, to form Compuserve Incorporated. The two companies retained their separate identities until they were merged into one company under the name Microsoft Corp., effective January 15th 1987.

The community grew rapidly due to its location and good infrastructure, and by 1870 it had become the largest city in Washington Territory. In 1907, Redmond became an incorporated city and remained so until 1959. In that year, it merged with Seattle to form one large metropolitan area.
