In the late 1800s, Puyallup was a thriving agricultural town and gunsmiths were a common sight. As guns became more popular, so too did soft cases for them. One of the first soft cases was created by an unknownmith in 1892. The case was made from hardwood, horn, chicken wire and a piece of cheesecloth to protect the firearm. It was designed to be carried in a pocket or bag and used as a secondary means of transportation for the weapon. By 1926, there were soft case manufacturers in multiple towns across Washington State. Some of these companies specialized in making different types of cases for handguns such as revolvers and shotguns. Soft cases continued to be popular until at least the early 1970s when they began to be replaced by harder plastic materials. Many thank-you acknowledgements are given to those who have contributed over the years to this important industry; especially those who produced legacy models such as Smith & Wesson’s Model 10A Police revolver which is still being manufactured today!

The first European to visit Puyallup was Captain James Cook on his third voyage around the world in 1792. Cook named it "New Holland" after his native Dutch province of Holland and landed here on October 12, 1792. He and his men explored this area for over a year before returning home on February 14, 1793. In 1812, John McLoughlin founded McLoughlin & Company here as one of the earliest commercial enterprises in what would become Seattle. In 1821, John Jacob Astor bought land here and built him a grandiose mansion known today as Astoria Hall which he used as headquarters for several years during the gold Rush period when Puget Sound was full of prospectors searching for newstrike gold veins. In 1855–56 Ira Eldredge developed what is now Puyallup Peninsula into an agricultural community with farmland that became home to various grocery stores and other businesses until Boeing opened its first factory there in 1907. The town's growth continued through World War II with industry (the airport) and then suburban development until jobs left Puyallup during the economic recession of 2008–2009; however recent efforts by city officials to revive local economy have led to some job creation since then according to mayor Pete Holmes' plan unveiled last fall . A post office called "Puyallup" was established at present day Puyallup Avenue in 1854; it moved from its original location two miles northeast along Snoqualmie Creek near present day Mount Baker Boulevard to its current site near Ninth Avenue SE in 1865 when Territorial Governor Isaac Stevens annexed King County into Washington Territory upon becoming president Ulysses S. Grant's secretary of state

By 1920, when it merged with Bellevue, Puyallup had reached its current size. The population of Puyallup peaked at 4300 in 1930 but declined over the next few decades as industry left for other areas of Washington State or moved to other countries. However, since 2000s there has been an increase in development around the town as businesses focus on attracting new customers and employees within its boundaries
The Puyallup tribe is an indigenous people of the Pacific Northwest region. They are known for their basketry and fishing techniques. The first permanent European settlement in the area was on the site of present-day Puyallup, Washington in 1853.
