Puyallup is a city in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 20,044 at the 2010 census. The area now known as Puyallup was part of the Yakima Nation before it was purchased by the United States in 1853. In 1862, Puyallup became the site of an armistice between Confederate and Union forces during the American Civil War. The first handguns were made in Puyallup around 1865 by John Millington Gray and others working for Eberhart & Sons Gunsmiths on Seventh Avenue SW. It wasn't until 1872 that George Aiken started making firearms here at his store on Third Street SE. By 1895 there were ten gun shops in town with over 1,500 employees making revolvers, shotguns and other firearms. In 1920-1921 three men from Seattle founded what would become Smith & Wesson Incorporated with a small factory near downtown Tacoma to produce revolvers for local law enforcement officers under license from Colt Firearms Corporation of America. In 1934 S&W produced its first handgun: the Super Sammie revolver model “A” which won acclaim for its construction quality and accuracy despite its limited production run of just 100 units per year due to financial difficulties brought about by World War II hysteria across North America. After World War II came a period of rapid growth for Puyallup as businesses such as Safeway began to open up throughout King County; however, gun control legislation enacted during this time did not sit well with many residents who felt their Second Amendment rights were being violated by government bureaucrats cheeseing off on their industry. In 1949 voters passed a referendum authorizing Mayor Byron Hargrave to establish a municipal police department; however this measure never received royal assent owing to pressure from then-Governor Elmer Robinson (D) who saw it as an opportunity to gain favor with federal officials in order to secure military contracts through which Puyallup would have participated without having any say in how those contracts were awarded. Since 1911, Washington state has had a law that requires gun owners to have a firearm protection certificate (FPC) in order to possess a pistol or revolver. This law waspassed as part of the Initiative No. 976 and is known as the “Puyallup Law.” The FPC is an Identification Card that displays the name, photograph, sex, date of birth, residence and other information of the owner. It is also required for purchasing any handgun from any licensed firearms dealer in Washington state. The Puyallup Law also provides for immunity from personal injury or property damage if the shooter demonstrates knowledge of and intent to use deadly force against any person or animal while possessing a pistol or revolver with which he was not licensed to own in Washington state.
Puyallup is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 7,584 at the 2010 census. The name comes from the Puyallup River and its tributaries. The first Europeans to visit what is now Puyallup were fur traders who travelled down the Columbia River in search of new areas for their businesses. In 1841, Lieutenant George Vancouver explored and named a river after Chief Sealth of the Duwamish tribe because he thought they resembled seahorses. In 1863, Captain John C. Frémont discovered an Wichita Indian village on the banks of the Puyallup River and reported it to Ulysses S. Grant as part of his expedition exploring Oregon Territory. The next year, while mapping land grants in Washington Territory, General James Kapp assigned Captain Samuel Vorland to survey and name rivers after Generals Alexander Stephens (the father of Ulysses S.) and George Armstrong Custer (George Kennan's ancestor). On July 4th 1863, at 7:00 a.m., Vorland named the Puyallup River after General Stephens' son-in-law Colonel Isaac Smith (1796–1881), commander of Fort Lawton nearmodern Seattle during Puget Sound Campaigns 1855–1856 against Native Americans led by Chief Joseph Iseultus (1814–1876) Puyallup grew rapidly due to agricultural production following gold discoveries along the Stillaguamish River in 1861; logging began in 1865; copper mining began in 1879; and shipbuilding became important with Tacoma becoming one of North America's leading ports for shipping lumber during World War II The town was incorporated as a city on February 15, 1907 On November 3rd 1912 voters passed a resolution designating Mount Rainier National Park which included all or part of present day Pierce County In 1916 voters passed another resolution establishing Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs as Indian Country within park boundaries
As shooters, we have always been aware of the importance of shooting protection. In fact, some of the earliest firearms were designed to protect people from gunshot injuries. The first practical firearm was a crossbow that was used to shoot arrows at targets. The crossbow required someone to hold onto the bowstring and release it just as the arrow hit its target. Fortunately, this method of shooting did not result in any fatalities and did not require any training in how to use the weapon. The next step in firearm design was what is known as an “automatic” firearm, which operated by means of a lever that could be pulled back and forth for firing. Automatic firearms are still in use today, both for hunting and target practice. A number of these weapons were built with safety features in mind, such as a firing pin that would automatically stop upon impact with a stationary object or dummy medieval armor intended to imitate human body parts so that unsuspecting victims would not be shot while trying to flee (i.e., blunderbuss). In addition to automatic firearms, there were also manual firearms – handguns – which required hand-to-hand combat skills in order to fire them effectively. These weapons typically fired ball rounds or shot knives instead of bullets or shells (hence their name). Handguns became increasingly popular during World War II because they allowed soldiers and sailors on ships and submarines to carry more firepower with them than they could ever manage with rifles or shotguns alone; however, they remained primarily civilian arms until well into the 21st century. It should be noted that even though automatic firearms have long been important for personal defense purposes, they are no longer considered common favorites among professional shooters due mostly to their increased trigger pull time and recoil compared with traditional riflefire modes (i.e., bolt action). This is primarily due to advances in ammunition technology and advances in gun design since World War II when automatic gunfire became less necessary for self-defense purposes but more prevalent for hunting sports events where accuracy is critical (such as skeet Shooting).
In the 1920s, Americans were still using ball bearings in their firearms. In response to a US Patent #1,906,849 issued to John F. Kennedy in 1927 for an "automatic pistol grip safety device," Winchester developed the first revolver with a rotating barrel and Serrated Trigger. The rifle design that became known as the Winchester Model 1873 was unveiled at a NRA meeting in February 1903. This rifle is credited with being the first legal assault weapon in the United States.

Puyallup is located on the north bank of the Snohomish River and it has been an agricultural community since its founding in 1853. The first post office in Puyallup was established in 1855. In 1916, Puyallup became one of six communities accepted into the Seattle-King County School District. The history of Puyallup can be traced back to 1853 when Edwin Ayer founded a trading post near present day Puyallup on the north bank of the Snohomish River. Ayer's post served as a center for trade with Native Americans and other settlers from around Northern Washington Territory. By 1860, Ayer had developed his farmstead into what is now known as "Ayer's Landing." From here, he exported goods to neighboring towns and villages along Puget Sound. In 1916, Puyallup became one of six communities accepted into the Seattle-King County School District. As part of this changeover, education became an increasingly important factor in local life. After World War I ended, many residents left their farms to join military service or take advantage of wartime jobs opportunities. Many businesses closed during these years; however, those that survived continued to operate until they were bought out by larger schools or municipalities in the 1970s and 1980s. Today, much remains unchanged about life in rural King County during this time: One third (3/10) of all jobs reported within King County are held by farmers who operate more than 1 million acres (500 km²) of land; while another third (27/50) work within educational institutions which employ over 100K people statewide; and just 7% hold professional or technical positions outside government employment...
The Puyallup tribe of Indians inhabited the area now known as Washington County, Washington, in the early 1800s. The first European to visit the area was Juan de Fuca, who discovered and named the Strait of Juan de Fuca on July 26, 1792. On November 6, 1821, the United States acquired what is now Washington County from Mexico in a land swap.
