However, some businesses remain such as Jardin Farms which produces fruit trees for local restaurants and produce stores; also present are Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company (GT) which manufactured tires here until its closure in 2001 after more than 100 years of business; Pioneer Hi-Fi; Northwest Lumber Company (NLC); First National Bank (FNB) which has been located here since 1907; Semiconductor Equipment Corporation SEI Inc.; Microsoft Corp.; Boeing Co., Ltd.; Shoprite Supermarket Inc.; Apple Incorporated; Toyota Motors CorporationUSA LLC]; among others In recent years there have been several demolitions of homes along Interstate 5 near where most jobs used to be located: these include an apartment complex built in 2005 known as "The Gables" just outside of town limits near I-5 exit 123A off State Route 410W called "The Meadows";[1] an Amazon warehouse built adjacent to Safeway store on SR 410E just east of town limits that went up in 2013,[2][3][4][5][6] another Safeway store across from CenturyLink Field that was demolished last year,[7][8][9][10] a homebuilder's house next door to Costco across from I-5 southbound exit 121B/SR 520 eastbound exit 12A within city limits that went up last year,[11],[12] among others

In 1865, when Puget Sound became a national park, Puyallup lost its status as an incorporated town but continued to serve as its civil and business center. The community developed into a bedroom community for Seattle during World War II because it was close to Boeing plants and naval yards. After the war, the population declined and by 1990 Puyallup was only remaining three hundred residents. However, over recent years several businesses have revitalized the townspeople's spirit with new programming such as art galleries and yoga studios.
